Ah but times have changed, and this is not the case here that this is a vestige from 20 years ago. The tray icons have ears and eyes you know, and they lurk silently taking notes on all manner of things. Turns out there's a ripe market for these notes. You really think this isn't harvesting data? Even 20 years ago they'd give you the option to disable this creepy feature but nay, valve decided to clip your thumbs and fingers off so you have to mash it into the ground with the bloody stumps that were once your hands.

All I'm saying is, how is that good for the customer? But you're both their customer and their product now, to whatever bidder. Hey at least valve wins.,..
