Close instead of minimize to tray
Oh, what a time to be alive, when I press 'close' on an application, it seems I'm actually whispering a gentle 'minimize' instead. Because obviously, what I truly desire is for my application to play an eternal game of hide-and-seek in my system tray. Why simply close an application when you can have a cluttered digital real estate instead?

And let's have a round of applause for the modern applications, the champions of our wasted time. Ever on a quest to locate that elusive 'close instead of minimize to tray' option or whatever it's masquerading as these days. It's like the world's worst Easter egg hunt.

But then, oh wait, Steam goes and pulls a fast one, yanking away even that crumb of control. What a novel concept! Remove the choice entirely. Genius move, really.

So, could you do us all a favor and resurrect that option? Quickly, preferably?

These are leftovers from almost 20 years ago. Back then it was so fashionable to have programs running in the background, to have silly skins, to create software that plays and buzzes. Hardly anyone wrote under the system, practically everything was done wildly and stupidly. Fortunately, all this has passed but the remnants are still there somewhere. This is also the case here. I've been waiting for years for Valve to understand that the close button, closes the application, that minimizing to tray also has its own separate button, etc.

people have been asking valve for the option to make x full exit instead of being the minimise buttons unnecessary clone for well over a decade and valve have refused to even acknowledge the problem

Ah but times have changed, and this is not the case here that this is a vestige from 20 years ago. The tray icons have ears and eyes you know, and they lurk silently taking notes on all manner of things. Turns out there's a ripe market for these notes. You really think this isn't harvesting data? Even 20 years ago they'd give you the option to disable this creepy feature but nay, valve decided to clip your thumbs and fingers off so you have to mash it into the ground with the bloody stumps that were once your hands.
Every time.
Over and over again.
Forever.

All I'm saying is, how is that good for the customer? But you're both their customer and their product now, to whatever bidder. Hey at least valve wins.,..
