Steam Library Folder is not executable

I am using steam on Manjaro Linux and am trying to add a steam library on a 4TB hard drive
when doing so i get the "Steam library Folder is not exectuable" error

the drive is formatted in ext4 and i've already made sure all the permissions on the drive and the folder are both executable, and that my user account has access to them

steps to reproduce
1, open steam
2. go to settings
3. click on storage tab
4. press the "+" icon to add a new library
5. select let me chose
6. select the location where the external drive is mounted

system: manjaro linux

so uhm, i am kinda stupid, there is no bug, i fixed the issue. if anyone else has this issue i solved it by going to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Troubleshooting and navigating to 7.2 and following the instructions there.

i did not realize this at first, and im sorry for posting a fake bug report.

Hello, i basically runned to the same problem on linux mint, so, i solved formatting my disk, to nfts format, using ext4 just doesn't work, and then i put it in the file etc/fstab, problem solved.

ok, do not format to nfts, your games will not open, so here how i really solved.

i followed a video about mounting a nfts disk, but instead i did the same with an ext4 disk.

 sudo nano /etc/fstab 

then, add a line and put your new disk like this

 UUID=XXXXXXXXX /media/ExtendedData ext4 defaults,x-gvfs-name=ExtendedData 0 3 

UUID: you have to found the exact uuid for that partition you want
ExtendedData is basically the name, so you choose the name

that solved my issue.
