Local Network Game Transfer does not always seem to work?
I just updated both PC and Steam Deck to enable the LNGT option so I could move some games across.
I had a few game updates that were downloading to my Deck and I got a pop-up on my PC, and a clear indicator on my Deck saying that it was transferring the files from PC to my Deck.

However, when trying to download Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on my Deck, it downloads directly from the internet and doesn't try to transfer anything from my PC.

Just to confirm, yes the game's installed on my PC.

Is anybody else having this issue or any suggestions on how to potentially fix this?

For me, when I inspected the logs on my "server" PC it showed the manifest was encrypted. So I tried installing a different, new game from Steam as a test and that one worked.

After verifying the integrity of the game that didn't work, the issue resolved itself. Does that help?

Worked for me. Ripping Fallout 4 from a 5yo Win10 HP laptop to a brand new steam deck. Stable(no beta) on both. Before disabling firewall on laptop transfer rate would spike and then disconnect/switch to download, after disabling sitting steady at 7.5 MB/s transfer for a good 15 minutes now.

That's only one game; I've done about 20so far and 15 of them failed during the transfer process; which is why I went to the tried and true nitroshare method instead of using this broken system.

You can check if the computer serving as local repo is listening to those ports:

NETSTAT.EXE -a | Select-String 27040
for me transferring games from my main pc to my laptop speed down from 1gbps to 100mbps using LAN, if i pause download then resume its back to full 1gbps but it dropped again to 100mbps wth

Attempted with CMD:

'Select-String' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Select-String is a Powerscript function. For a second I was surprised to see Windows having a grep like function in command line, but being Powerscript makes sense. But, FYI, most people don't default to Powerscript, so it is probably worth mentioning when you are giving a command that requires it.

disabling firewall didn't fix anything for me

Use Nitroshare to transfer the files over and then detect them with steam; works about 80% of the time; otherwise powered usb drive for backup and restore; both methods are more reliable than this garbage amateur hour version by valve.
It seems you can host a network transfer only if you are not downloading something in steam yourself.

yes; but even then I have had it repeatedly stop for no apparent reason and revert to downloading the remaining 90% of the game.
i dont know how to ust turn on this feature, i have helldivers 2 on my sd but it wont transfer to my pc
I don't know if this is to obvious but my problem was that the host PC was installing updates.
Apparently any download on steam stops the transfer.

yeah for me the breaking happens even when not installing updates; the fix is usually shut on or both clients down and then re-initiate; super annoying vs something like nitroshare which, in contrast, consistently succeeds at transferring the game over...but then you have to do the ol' detect the game files by installing to where they are...and hope steam doesn't trip up as it's detecting the files.
Yeah, even after adjusting the firewall settings, local transfers still don't work for me. This feature needs fixing, much like the Steam Link streaming being subpar compared to every other option.
