Local Network Game Transfer does not always seem to work?
I just updated both PC and Steam Deck to enable the LNGT option so I could move some games across.
I had a few game updates that were downloading to my Deck and I got a pop-up on my PC, and a clear indicator on my Deck saying that it was transferring the files from PC to my Deck.

However, when trying to download Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on my Deck, it downloads directly from the internet and doesn't try to transfer anything from my PC.

Just to confirm, yes the game's installed on my PC.

Is anybody else having this issue or any suggestions on how to potentially fix this?

For me, when I inspected the logs on my "server" PC it showed the manifest was encrypted. So I tried installing a different, new game from Steam as a test and that one worked.

After verifying the integrity of the game that didn't work, the issue resolved itself. Does that help?

Warhead, can you post the log line saying manifest encrypted ?

How did you start the process of transferring? I'm currently opt in beta for both my pc and steam deck along with being on the same network.

Sure, you can find it here: https://pastebin.com/fK3zi5Rh

The first attempt was Divine Knockout, which successfully started transferring to Steam Deck. The second attempt, which failed, was FF7 Remake.

You just start the install on the Steam Deck and it'll automatically detect and transfer from the PC (it'll show both on PC/SteamDeck whether it is working)

The logging for the feature appears to be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\content_log.txt

Verifying worked! Seems like during the verification process it very quickly goes through a tiny download or something that might fix it. Thanks! :)

Ok, this will get fixed. If you clicked "Clear Download Cache" at some point before, it fails to start the peer server with "Manifest depot_version is still encrypted". Will get fixed soon, thanks for helping.

transfers fail on pc to pc over local network; so not surprised; the most irritating part is when you get like 65% through transfer and it decides to switch to downloading instead. Feature is fairly broken.

Feature is broke AF; and will randomly stop transferring; not really surprised as steam/valve are not very good at this kind of thing because they don't really care or have the necessary skill set.

Use Nitroshare instead.

For me, the problem was a too restrictive firewall. Apparently, the downloading client connects to port 27040 (TCP?/UDP?), according to the content_log.txt, and fails.

After temporarily disabling the firewall, LNGT works as expected.
