My Steam skin/theme completely broke (January 5th, 2023 Update)

(sorry if this is the wrong category. i wasn't sure if this fits more into feedback or bug report)

hi,

I've been using the "Air for Steam" skin which hasn't been updated for years but the most important menus all kept working, so i kept using it. Most importantly for me, the header of the Steam Client (Store, Library, Community,...) was still working, but is completely missing since this update and i basically only see the web window of the Steam Store and nothing else.
When going back to the Default Client, it still works.
What has changed in this update that could have caused this. I'm willing to try to fix the skin myself but i'd need to know what exactly has changed in the launcher causing the header to be completely gone.

Same, just wanted to report that too. Didn't happen in last update, only the second one that was pushed today did it

Chances are that the Steam dev are phasing out skin support at all. There are reports about changes to webkit.css being broken too.

My skin is broken since yesterday, and my tests show that my code should work, they seem to have blocked mods on the steam-library-window.

Did they block modify from within webkit.css ?

(I'm still with the old UI, not wanting to update) so i'm asking.

No, you can modify the files as you like and you can still drop in skins and load them through the options-window. But the the css-rules just aren't applied anymore. To this part of the client. Other parts like the titlebar still work.

And now comes the funny part. The libraries code didn't even change. There is no 'we're working on the library', it's a lie.

That's what i mean. They blocked CSS modificaton from within webkit.css.

That's absolutely evil. Valve not only aren't giving people the choice to hide those elments, they are downgrading the client to prevent any way to the user to doesn't have spam and nagging on their libraries.

yup and themes are now also broken in the normal client. why does valve hate us so much. 😭😭

They spent time and resources to prevent us from using custom skins, something Valve has had implemented for decades.

Valve what are you doing? Revert this decision with all due respect.
