Big Picture Mode: "Use Nintendo Button Layout" is inconsistent
ISSUE
The Nintendo Button Layout is inconsistent.

OS
Windows 11

STEPS

* Enter new Big Picture Mode
* Go to Settings
* Go to Controller
* Activate "Use Nintendo Button Layout" toggle
* Navigate to Guide Button Chord Layout and access

RESULTS
First time use of Guide Button Chord Layout (the five page mini tutorial/explanation) ignored Nintendo Button Layout (i.e. which button progresses through the pages, which one goes backwards).

Further use of the "?" help within Guide Button Chord Layout also ignored Nintendo Button Layout both on access and navigation within.

EXPECTED
The "Use Nintendo Button Layout" option to be applied immediately and consistently throughout all menus.

WORK AROUND
Appears to be resolved on Big Picture mode restart.

How about a 2nd or 3rd restart?

Cant help noticing everytime Deck preview or beta channels get an update which mentions specific types of controllers - non Deck users start reporting the same issues that have just had "fixes" pushed to Deck preview channel.

newbigpicture is obviously optimised for Steam Deck. Steam Input is being rebvuilt from ground up where Steam Deck controls are numero uno Steam Input priority. Which would be fine if newbigpicture did not break so much of the older Steam Input features/functionality before Steam Deck existed.

What is being described in OP is old steam input conflicting with new steam input (newbigpicture) and/or vice versa. That is why Steam needs restarted, poor Steam Input is being spun round in circles looking for Deck controls lol

I don't know if it's due to repeated restarts or if it was fixed in the days since (and is such a minor thing it isn't listed in the updates) but the Switch layout A button (same position as Xbox B) does now proceed through the aforementioned menu without a restart. Well, at least the two page version of the tutorial. I don't know how to access that first time five page version again.

However as one door closes another opens and the visual key at the bottom of New Big Picture Mode today ignores Switch layouts (i.e. saying B to go forwards when it's A and vice versa). Though I imagine that's already on the docket.

As an aside, and something I should really note in the feedback part of the forum, while I might be reporting these issues as I come across them I don't particularly care about my A & B buttons doing what A & B typically does on Switch. My primary interest in the toggle is just making my button prompts match Nintendo's YXBA layout vs. Xbox's XYAB layout as I have an 8BitDo controller that follows YXBA.
