Can't find joy-cons

My joy-cons are connected. Betterjoy is not on. It won't show on the list. Please help.

Steam won't recognize my joycon either, even though rewasd does. I check for client updates, but it says I'm up to date.

Nope. The newest update on the 10th gave me the checkbox for "connect pairs of joycons," but steam still doesn't recognize them. I don't think it can be any addition software that I have install because my switch pro controller works fine with steam.

In case you ever tried to use Joy-Cons with Steam before the beta, remove your Bluetooth devices from Device Manager (I'm assuming you're on Windows. I dunno, you never said. ), check for hidden devices, or clean out your config.vdf to disassociate the previous controller type from your Joy-Cons.

Does that software install HID Guardian, HideHID, or other things that try to block other programs from opening the un-remapped controllers? We've had reports of devices staying blocked after exiting some of these remapping programs and preventing Steam from opening the devices. I'd try launching then closing the app again and if that doesn't work try following any instructions for cleanly uninstalling the app.

That did it! Now, I feel dumb. Removing the joycon from HID Guadian's blacklist worked. Thank you! I hadn't thought that that was the issue because rewasd saw them.

I think anything that supports HID Guardian can see the device, but Steam doesn't support that (and usually it's some other remapping program trying to block Steam from reading it anyway)

I uninstalled HIDGuardian and it still won't show up.

Have you checked the localhost link here and removed everything? https://github.com/Davidobot/BetterJoy/wiki/FAQ-and-Problems
It say "before uninstalling the drivers." You might have to reinstall it.

With this feature entering stable release to support joycons, I have not been able to get my NYXI Joycons to work without Betterjoy. It shows them connected under bluetooth devices but in steam General Controller Settings shows "No controller detected".

Oddly enough this worked for me in the beta where I no longer needed Betterjoy to play with these. They showed up fine.

Right now, I have to use Better Joy to navigate big picture mode, then if i stream a game via remote play I exit BetterJoy as for some reason, the Remote host desktop pc is detecting the Joycons as steam is supposed to... 😵. So then when I exit the game, I need to run BetterJoy again to navigate big picture again.

Going back and forth has been kinda frustrating.
