SWITCH PRO CONTROLLER doesn't work with games from Epic Games Store
ISSUE
SWITCH PRO CONTROLLER doesn't work with games from Epic Games Store, the desktop mode configuration is still active in game when its supposed to switch to the gamepad bindings.

OS
Windows 10 2004 all updates installed

STEPS
Add epic games as a non steam game
World war z and hitman 2016 for example won't work
Start the game and you'll see desktop config still active and it hasn't switched to gamepad
RESULTS
ain't working

EXPECTED
Should work like it does on any other game except games from the epic games store

Steam Input's controller translation/emulation relies on the Steam Overlay to function. You should be able to add the .exe to Steam as a non-Steam shortcut and have it work in most titles though.

Um, that is exactly what I've done? Sorry if I made my post unclear, but the steam overlay appears perfectly fine and as for adding the .exe, I tried both the epic games launcher and the individual game and both have the steam overlay appear fine, the bug that I am trying to report is that although that is the case and all should be working fine the controller bindings do not kick in and the game still thinks I am using a keyboard, as in the steam desktop control mode for my controller should be replaced with the gamepad bindings and the game should pick up I am using a controller but it just won't happen with games that need epic games launcher to be used.

Ah sorry was not reading close enough - it works in many non-Steam titles but some anti-cheat providers block the emulated controller input. In games that don't work some folks have used a program called GloSC for turning it back into a driver based thing that the game's anit-cheat will allow or they use a mouse/kb based configuration.

My question would be how is it that games from the epic games store where you can simply launch the games' exe and it works fine without needing the epic launcher, games that do require to be launched through the epic launcher will not run/show only a black screen if you only try launching their exe on their own such as is the case with hitman 2016 and world war z, the controller gamepad config will not kick in for games that need the epic games launcher. So it can't be an anticheat within the respective game or anything like that which prevents the gamepad emulation from kicking in as I only have this problem with games that are tied to the launcher, games from the epic store that do not require the epic launcher to run play with the controller completely fine with zero issues, and I have a dozen of examples for this.
This is why I have reported it the way I have as it only seems logical to me that anything tied to the launcher in order to run, the gamepad emulation will not work. But the steam overlay and normal desktop keyboard configuration is still fully present and functional. I mean we're so close, all I need is the gamepad bindings to kick like it does on every other game I have

It could be the Epic overlay interfering with the input side of the overlay hooks, etc. If you go to the Steam Controller discussion forums there's probably more info about which games work or don't and what workarounds exist.

You could also install other software to translate the controller to Xinput like ProconXInput.
