but you could try to limit your microphone to a certain volume input,
so that it only goes off when you speak.
Otherwise I wouldn't know as well how to fix this, maybe wear some headphones lying around that you use for your phone or something else that limits the volume output not to reach your microphone.
Edit: There already seems a option, see if you have enabled it.

Yes those are all things that i belive are up to the user to sort out, but in contrast. when skyping or discording, with my friends i did not notice such an echo. and i switched directly from discord to the steam chat (i did not leave skype or discord calls on while do the steam chat beta)
