One thing to test may be to disable any extra firewall type software, and to ensure Steam.exe and steamwebhelper.exe are marked to allow all traffic in the Windows Firewall.
That's very interesting that it worked in one call yesterday, after changing some windows privacy settings. Let us know if you figure out what may have been related.
I have another question for everyone, can you go into the Sounds settings in the Windows Control Panel, go to the Recording tab. Find your microphone device in the list, right click, Properties. Then under the Advanced tab you should see "Default Format" with something like "2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)" except your values may be different. Can you post here what that setting says? I am wondering if there is an issue with certain input formats from some microphone devices.
Thanks, you are the second person with this issue who has 24bit rather than the more common 16bit, and there may be an issue with that.
If you were to change the setting and try again then I think you may need to restart Steam and or Chrome before trying voice again to ensure the change is picked up.
If you are able to change your playback format to 44100Hz (or lower) I suspect it will fix the issue. Obviously this isn't a good fix though, and we will investigate how to get things functioning properly for those with higher default format settings. Everyone in this thread has been very helpful in narrowing down the issue, if those of you experiencing can check and test changing playback format so we know this is the problem for all of you that would continue to help us.
Apperantly i cant read, but the problem was fixed for me when i changed the PLAYBACK format to default setting, doesnt make much sense to me, but it works. Thanks Ace
