Hi, sorry but i don't understand the answer, he ask for the latest Mac OS beta, not for previous version. We probably have to wait, no way for bypass os verification? all my app working (sorry for my bad english) on Big Sur

Steam is completely broken on MacOS 11.0 (or 10.16 in some internal version strings). The answer does not address the problem at all: Steam is 64bit now and all of the apps that I'm trying to install are also 64bit.

Steam just reads MacOS Big Sur as an invalid operating system and does not allow me to install any games (some of which do work when I open then up manually, others seem have to had their .app file zeroed out and it reports as 0 bytes).

This is the case in Steam production as well as Steam Beta.

Any help would be great!

I can second this. All of my games on Steam for Mac are 64 bit but it says they're an "invalid platform" anyway. My guess is maybe Steam needs to recognize Big Sur as a legit version of macOS. Also, the Steam Chat window doesn't close on Big Sur.

Yup, when you run the Steam app in the terminal this is the log message that gets printed:

/Users/buildbot/buildslave/steam_rel_client_osx/build/src/common/enum_names.cpp (2190) : Assertion Failed: Missing String for EOSType (-81)

Looks like the name just needs to be added to an enum.

The first comment is irrelevant - this has nothing to do with 32-bit vs. 64-bit. That did not change in Big Sur, that was a Catalina change. However, I can confirm that the beta and public versions both fail to launch games on Steam.

I updated to Big Sur beta in place on my mac. I can launch some of my games if I open their executable directly but they don't show as installed in my Steam Library.

(BUMP) This isn't much different than what has already been posted but I am also on the Big Sur beta and my entire library is greyed out. I need to test some apps on this beta and this is stopping that from happening!

I've noticed that steam is removing my games when they receive updates (or something along those lines), as they're no longer in their local folders after a few days.

I can't launch Civ 5 directly or via Steam, along with Board Game Simulator and anything else in my lowly library.

Same. I was hoping the latest beta would fix this issue but no dice.

Yes Steam PLEASE FIX THIS. Thank you.

Same here, waiting for HOT FIX in beta channel

Definitely would be nice to go back to gaming on my Mac. Hoping to hear something from Valve soon.

This should be a simple fix. If it really is just a missing enum string then it would take a single developer 5 minutes to fix (including the time to add a log entry to get the right string).

I wouldn't be surprised if this is already fixed and just hasn't reached the beta channel yet. Hopefully soon.

A more long-term fix would be a way to bypass OS verification (a "try to launch anyway" option), that would be hidden in the settings to avoid confusion for casual users.

I'm surprised they didn't do that after incorrectly saying practically every game was incompatible last year with Catalina (incorrectly labelling 64-bit games as 32-bit).
