Friends Network Disconnects

Tabs me out of the game and then gives me the Reconnect to network. Happens every 10 to 15 minutes. Just keeps connecting and disconnecting me. Says like your local network might be offline but i'm still playing the game so i don't see how is it possible for it to be offline

It sounds like you have a bad connection, and the data Steam needs for the friends network is being dropped. The game will still allow you to play if you lose connection for a certain period of time before Steam freaks out too.

Old steam didn't do this i just played csgo to see if it will do it again, now it just tabs me out of the game and friends list is fine i can see friends says im online, seen posts similiar to these and they claim to have better internet than me

I understand that this is Beta but i never lag and stuff(only when downloading and playing something at same time). I believe that steamwebhelper.exe is the problem, it restarts itself and disconnects me from friends network

Make sure you are running the latest beta by checking for updates manually in Steam. There have been a lot of updates lately, and it isn't very good at updating itself to these on startup.

Well lads, I got this update today as I was forced to do so (otherwise I had steamwebhelper.exe turned off) and today when I played CS:GO steam (Friends tab) kept minimizing my game to desktop. I spotted that the Friends tab always opened on it's own with text saying "Reconnecting to Friends Network". After a second the tab closed on it's own and kept me tabbed on desktop.

This kept happening every 3-5 minutes and really made the game unplayable. I have tried bunch of fixes but none of them worked, and disabling steamwebhelper.exe prevents me from going online and seeing my friends.

Yes I've restarted my router, my internet adapter and also my PC. I even re-installed steam with no luck.

I'm not surprised this keeps happening, though. Valve isn't close to being a perfect company, and fact they successfully created this platform long time ago actually blows me away.

Good ol' Xfire, I really do miss you.

This has also been happening to me. Steam Friendslist minimizes me every 5 mins. The chat disconnects and reconnects and minimizes my game. It's so annoying.

Well, I'm using Ethernet connection and this problem still persists.

Same Problem For me tried everything i could think but was not able to fix this.. Plz if any1 fixes this plz tell us the solution as this has become rlly annoying...

I'm on ethernet as well, and this problem still presists. It is immensley annoying. Happens to me every couple of minutes even if I'm not in game. if im watching something full screen chat will appear and will attempt to reconnect.

I really hope someone from Valve is actively trying to fix it, or provide us with an option to revert back to the old friends list and chat.

I have found a solution. Add "-nofriendsui" to your Steam shortcut. It will disable the new (and in my experience extremly broken) Friends UI and revert back to the old UI.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing, except I added -nochatui -nofriendsui in the target line of the steam shortcut on the desktop.

The workaround now is:

-Steamos

The parameters in the thread marked as an answer have been deprecated in a previous stable release.

With the parameter that I've mentioned; you lose the overlay.

For the issue with the friends network disconnecting, it's maybe just connectivity issues.

You can clear Steam's web cache.

[Steam] - [Settings] - [Web Browser] - [Delete Web Browser Cache]

I don't experience this.
