Mouse moving on it's own when I have my controller connected.
Title says it all. My pointer is constantly moving when my controller is connected and I have steam up on my pc. If I exit steam the pointer stops moving and acts like normal.

Please add more detailed info as shown in the sticky >>How to report a bug (link)<<

In your case probably important : What kind of mouse & controler do you use and what are their respective driver versions?

Go into Big Picture Mode -> Settings -> Controller Settigns and either calibrate your controller's joystick or opt out of controller support for your controller type. You can also go Settings->Base Configurations->Desktop Config and browse for the disabled configuration.

The latest beta uses a more conservative deadzone as a starting point. Can you see if this resolves your issue? If not please go into the BPM Controller Setting page and calibrate the joystick using the calibrate button.

Same problem here, any solution?.I tried to calibrate my xbox 360 controller in big picture mode, but still the same. This stop happening when I disconnect my controller or close Steam.I use Windows 10,both mouse and controller are wireless and have a laptop.Thanks!.

If the auto calibration doesn't work you can manually increase the sliders until the mouse movement stops. You can also disable Xbox configuration support in that same menu

Ok, thanks I will try that.

Thanks for your help. It was the Enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers that was hijacking my mouse. I just disabled it and everything works again.

The real solution is not having the controller move the mouse ever, in other words killing this functionality entirely, at least by default. Asking users to work around this very bad idea is the wrong approach. Just don't move the pointer ever. That's what the mouse is for.

Why is the "solution" suggested to the MOUSE moving when controller attached when IN steam being to calibrate the controller? Its completely irrelevant if the Controller is calibrated or not, it should Newer interfere with any other pointing devices while using Steam.

Well, Ppl may use controler a. to use smartTV and/or b. have TVscreen as computer screen. And there is streaming from main computer to smaller devices, + there are many devices like SteamDeck. Reason enough for having mouse pointer moving with a controler.

The default configuration for controllers is to not do anything in desktop mode. If users have selected the config that does mouse/kb emulation and have a stick that's driftier than the somewhat conservative default we've set, then they'll need to calibrate. Most users shouldn't have to calibrate unless they are trying to get the stick as responsive as possible while using the mouse/kb emulating config.
