Steam browser has trouble to open content in a new window

problem: Steam does not open links in a new window

description: Whenever I click on a link and Steam wants to open a new window it fails to load the content. This problem exists in Steam itself as in the Steam overlay. This problem goes so far that I cannot complete a purchase in the steam store, as I am not able to login in the paypal window.
Sometimes you can get around that when you open the link by pressing the middle mouse button.

I've been in the same situation for almost 3 days. Were you able to find a solution? I can not finalize any purchase, and I only managed to buy by accessing another browser (Mozilla).

Sometimes I can get around it when I use middle mouse button instead of left click.

Thanks, but I tried this option and it can even load and exit step 2 in the cart, but then the purchase is pending on Steam and the new window that was intended to end the transaction is in an eternal loading. I've never seen such an infamous problem here. I will have to wait for an official solution through some patch..

Can you post the contents of your cef_log.txt from your Steam install logs\ folder please. Also post any mdmp files you have in the dumps\ folder that start with the word crash. Details on your OS would also be useful.

All dumps I have are like assert_gameoverlayui.exe_<numbers>.dmp, there is none with crash.

Thanks for those details. Does this problem happen whenever you try to view a popup link on a web page, or just some times? Does the web browser in the Steam overlay work for you? How about the in game HTML content for Dota2 ?

For me the problem only occurs when I try to acess an external link with the Steam, an example is when I try to checkout with PagSeguro or PayPal and a popup window appears. The window appears and stays in an eternal loading.

Yes, this happens in all popup links, in Steam browser and in Steam overlay, looks like this:

When a link opens in a new tab, it is fine, in a new window it's just black, and after a few seconds the site with the link I clicked on will reload.

I do not play Dota2.
