Friend "In Game" status cycling games randomly.

For certain unspecific people I am friended with, Steam is cycling through random games that they own while playing just one of them.

What I mean by this is that they begin playing a game, and then Steam starts to change what game they are apparently in, at about 1 per 2 seconds, creating a new notification for each. I had a friend who was only playing a (one) game for a few minutes, and Steam cycled through about 30 before my eyes.
