Videos unmute when skipping through
ISSUE
When you go to a game's storefront, it has a slider with a bunch of videos and pictures. The first video displayed has no issues if you want to skip around and watch different parts of it. Any other videos though, immediately unmute the audio. Even if you mute the audio again, once you click to a different part of the video, the audio will get forced enabled. It drives me nuts.

OS
Windows 7

STEPS
Go to Middle Earth - Shadow of War
On primary video, make sure your audio is muted
Click around on video's scrubber to different parts of video
Note that audio stays muted
Go to 2nd video
It should start playing muted
Click around on the scrubber to a different time in the video
The audio will now be unmuted

EXPECTED
If someone has their audio muted, it should not unmute unless user clicks on the audio level scrubber.

:ZAT_Correct:Confirmed, more or less.
For me, the problem happens with the Mute/unmute button (= speaker icon), not when only the volume slider is used.

Thanks for the excelent report St33lD13hl. Following the example sticky made it easy to try recreating the issue you found. I wish more Ppl would.

  1. At first with Middle Earth and then Star Trek (8 video's) i could not recreated the problem.
  2. Testing missclicks would only enable sound when the missclick was performed right underneath the volume slider and no-where else, provided i used the slider to mute sound again.

  3. When the speaker icon is used last to unmute and/or mute sound, the issue as described by St33lD13hl does happen when using the video slider.

  4. The issue persists on subsequent store pages for different games, but does indeed not affect a first video for that game (tested with ME - Shadow of War, Star Trek, CSGO and H1Z1) .
  5. Although when staying with the same game and going back to the first video after the issue already occured, this 1st video also suffers from the issue.

  6. (Mute/)Unmute button remembers the point to where the volume slider was last slided and unmutes at that volume. That's unbdoubtly as intended.
  7. Probably unintended : auto enabling sound as per the issue described here also openes sound at that volume.

  8. Using the volume slider to mute the sound again seemingly corrects the issue and hanceforth using the video slider will not auo-enable sound annymore.
    * Note, using the volume slider to set it to total silence probably still auto-enables sound be it at the last point volume slider has been set, to 0 in this case.

Yes, this just happened to me and almost burst my eardrums so I thought I'd check to see if its a known issue.
Pretty disappointed that it's been around for 3 years at least.
Valve, please fix.

Still not fixed 4 years after it's being reported...

Still an issue for me as well

Issue for me. This happens in game and I'll have Oxygen not included playing on mute. But after a few minutes the computers mute is unmutted to 40% (last volume entered before minimizing volume to 0% then muting). It's very frustrating as I've checked settings on windows and within steam and there is no clear fix.

This is not a valve issue. This is a youtube issue.

It happens on youtube.com directly as well.
