Tales of Symphonia 60FPS
Hi everyone!

Tales of Symphonia is one of my favorite games on the Gamecube but I've always wanted to play the PC edition because of the extra content. I know that Kaldaien was having trouble with the anti-piracy in this game and thus was unable to get the game running at 60FPS. The game looks great with the all of fixes that Kaldaien made but the game looks so smooth in 60 frames. I'm just wondering if anyone is still working on this.

Thanks!

The anti-tampering middleware was removed long ago, but Kaldaien put his attempts at getting 60 FPS to work on hold when it became clear that a new patch was in the works. He never went back to it, and I doubt he ever will. He's largely shifted focus away from game-specific fixes.

Oh I see, I must have misunderstood the situation. It's a shame that Bandai Namco never gave us a 60FPS patch. In fairness, it does seem to be quite difficult to get this game to run at 60 frames. Even the developers of the Playstation 3 emulator RPCS3 can't get this game to run at 60.

It's kinda hard to emulate a game with a 30 FPS cap at 60 FPS, don't you think?

Sure, there are some cases where console games get hacked to run at higher framerates on emulators, but I don't think that's an easier process than hacking PC games to do the same.

You're absolutely right. I have no idea how much work goes into making a game run and 60 FPS that had a 30 FPS lock on it. I can't imagine it's simple. Whether it's on PC or console most likely doesn't make a difference but it's interesting how many attempts have been made to get it to run at 60. I was just wondering if anyone was still working on it. Unfortunately that answer seems to be no.
