NPC Follower Dialogue Trouble

As much as Iknow this problem has probably been announced here, I've sought long and hard to fix this problem. I'm completely developed a new npc follower as many have, but upon clicking him, no dialogue events pop up for me to choose him as a follower, the only thing that happens is automatic dialogue speeches as most un-interactible npcs do.

Most likely problems are: wrong voice type, not adding to follower faction, not setting the relationship rank high enough, not adding a relationship to the player... check those and let us know how you go :)

My character is a DarkElf, so I chose the DarkElfMale voice. Its part of the CrimeFactionsTheivesGuild, CurrentFollowerFaction(-1), PotentialFollowerFaction. The relationship is Friend, I chose between Friend or Ally(ally didnt work either)

Okay on the first tab did you also set disposition base to a nice high number, I use 80.

Hmmm, mine was 78, guess I could boost it up to 85

Actually, DarkElfMale may not be supported for follower now that I'm thinking about it... Dang, I closed CK again so I can't doublecheck. DarkElf Female is. And Dragonborn DLC adds a DarkElfMale follower voicetype.

Ah, gu ess I could try changing the race, although it really takes away from my total idea of having a dark elf npc.

I know, it's so annoying when the voicetype isn't supported :/ Just try changing the voicetype to check. MaleBrute is good.

Eh, changing the voicetype did not work. So I may have to change the race now....which Im dreading. But this is basically a starter mod for me, before I get into my main one.

Do persevere though. Once you get the steps down, making custom followers is quite straightforward. I make all my followers now. Well, sometimes I tweak existing followers too.

Tweaking existing followers can be a good place to start as you don't have to worry about making them work as followers and you can just edit their looks/fighting style/stats/etc. Keep note of your favourite vanilla followers and see what voicetypes are used, what factions they're in, etc. Familiarity is helpful :)
