As for the abandonware download, they are rarely truly legal if someone holds the publishing rights, unless that entity itself posts the game on the internet (like EA and Rockstar did for a few games back then), but most people do not really care.
Yeah it's definitely a scam. I inquired about it, and instead of actually answering, or showing proof that he had as he put " Made a deal with the current asset holder" he banned me from the page for "Spreading False Information" If that doesn't scream fraud idk what does.
I reported to both WB games who renewed their trademark for it about 5 years ago, and steam.
The "dev" told me he removed the files from Steam's servers so it became a useless brick in the libraries of any curators who received an early copy to review (like myself).
I've never seen something like this before, where you can't play something after it's removed from the Steam store. Didn't even know it was possible to wipe the files permanently off the server as a developer.
Hope Warner Bros. or whoever actually owns the rights hunts him down.
Chat log I was able to screenshot before he removed me: https://i.imgur.com/itINIuQ.png
They changed their Steam username and avatar, as if that'll actually fool Valve.
Here's a link to the fake dev's profile so it never gets lost:

Also the game's forum, since that's hard to find now too:

Edit: He just wiped that forum, and here's one final little joke from the prick:

Actually, for it to not get lost, you'd need the profive permalink.
In this case, it's http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198856911058 .
As for getting rid of the files, yeah, it's possible.
Games usually stay available in their last state because they're left like that, but you can push an update rendering the product unplayable or just one that delete stuff.
And that's a shame, it's kind of ridiculous that that's even possible? To brick a game permanently, not even able to download a previous manifest with depot downloader..
Even though it wasn't official, it'd have been nice to have the game in my Steam library so I don't have to dig up my physical copy ever again.

Gosh , so many people was throwing insults at a me for saying that it was a scam while defending that so- called "developer"...
heh wish to see their faces whent hey will find out the truth
I was with you on that one. The doucher banned me from "posting false information" on the discussions page
To be honest I dont want to be banned anymore. I callected so many stupid bans from asset flippers that my last community ban was 3 months long and thats really made me want to avoid any sort of getting bans for all cost.
I dont care much about using forums but I love making Steam reviews (kinda like a personal hobby) and not being able to do them really suck. Same with posting screenshots from games.
So when I was banned I stored 89 reviews in notepad files ready to upload which I did in the first week after ban ended.
