For example: Different times, as in when, in 202 BCE, Hannibal crossed the alps to Zama with troops like war elephants to only be heavily defeated by Scipio Africanus. Imagine you as the PC, show up after building your small nation-state, modern weapons, and make Rome your ♥♥♥♥♥.
That's just ONE example.
Imagine this: You successfully unite England, save the future, only to encounter a "time ripple" (like in ST:NG S3Ep15 - Yesterday's Enterprise) and you're in a worse situation than when you originally started the game, having to correct the "mistakes" of a
predecessor...
OR...a War of the Worlds (H. G. Wells) scenario....
