Timeout view displayed when trying to enable Mobile Authenticator [Android]
ISSUE
After tapping the "Email" button on the "How do you want to enable this Mobile Authenticator?" view, (1) I DO NOT receive an email, and (2) it takes a few moments for it to display a new timeout view.

Also, after entering my phone number, (1) I DO receive the SMS message, but (2) a new timeout view is displayed afterward.

PHONE

Android 5.0.1 (LRX22C)

STEPS
1. Go to Steam Guard
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap "Get Steam Guard codes by phone"
4. Tap "Email"
...or...
1. Go to Steam Guard
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap "Get Steam Guard codes by phone"
4. Tap "SMS"
5. Enter phone number
6. Tap "Submit"

EXPECTED
When selecting "Email", I expect a message sent to my contact email address that contains the "enable authenticator" code, and then a view in the Guard app to enter the code.

When selecting "SMS," I expect a message sent to my phone via SMS that contains the "enable authenticator" code, and then a view in the Guard app to enter the code.

This also fails in the same way on Android 5.1 on a Nexus 4.

Just tried again and got an error page saying my account has too many phones associated with it. Checking the phone management page though and I can't see a any phones registered.

Interesting. I still just timeout for both email and SMS options.

Confirmed. Happens to me as well on Android 5.0.1 on an HTC One M8.

I have this issue myself. Android 5.0.1 on a Galaxy Note 4. Same repro steps as OP. Additional detail: https://store.steampowered.com/phone/manage This manage page, if manually accessed, states my phone is associated, but I never finished inputting the code generated by SMS, so the Android app doesn't believe the association exists.

Hmm, that page is looking pretty broken for me, but yeah, my phone is associated in some way. http://i.imgur.com/GhCZoEt.jpg

Just for curiosity's sake, I removed my phone via SMS code and then reattempted to auth my smartphone. This time, instead of reaching a timeout error page, it produced the error seen by safetydan that too many phones are already registered. Upon re-reviewing the phone management page, Steam appears to believe that I already have a phone associated with the account ending in ______. No number displayed.

Okay, same here.

The phone management page was fixed so I removed the phone from the account. Then I tried to add my phone through the app, but after submitting my number I get the "Sorry, your account has too many phones associated with it, and a phone cannot be added to it at this time" view.

Enabling through email still produces no code via email and a timeout view.

Just as a fun tidbit Smash, since the system now thinks we have fake phones associated to our accounts but those fake phones don't have numbers, we can't possibly receive the SMS messages to remove the fake phone associations. Until they're removed through some other means, we can't associate our real phones to our accounts. :D

I'm getting this same error.

Galaxy S5 (G900V.05). Android 5.0

The email option works now; I receive an email with a code. And no longer do I see the timeout view.

But when trying to associate my phone, it still says too many phones are associated even though I removed my phone from here https://store.steampowered.com/phone/manage

I'm also getting the 'too many phones' error. Now when I go to the manage phone page, I see it associated with a phone with the last 4 digits being blank: http://imgur.com/apjdzfp

I can't seem to associate my phone to the account.

I have two options after clicking remove phone, one is steamguard code, the other is SMS code. SMS fails to send and message. Steamguard code returns a page that says:

Sorry, there was an error doing that

We ran into a problem performing that action. You may want to try again, or if the problem persists, contact support.
Cannot remove phone

My page layout is exactly like yours Smash:

Also getting the "too many phones" error.
The SMS code for rmoving the phone never arrived. I also got "there's been an error" when trying it through a Steamguard code.

Just went through the process again and got the same error when setting up via SMS. Then (for the first time) I tried the add phone process via email. Still got the error at the end about too many phones, but then the app brought up the code generator screen and said it was all okay.

I've tried to login with the codes and it all seems to work. The manage phone page is still a mess and doesn't list a phone number though.

For some reason the code generator just showed up when I launched the app the other day, without having to enter an activation code from email or SMS.

No phone number is associated at https://store.steampowered.com/phone/manage. When I try to add the phone via the app, it still says my account has too many phones associated with it.
