But to ACTUALLY answer your question, we'll handle that at check-in at the event. :) We're going to improve the check-in process for things like this, but we don't have details on that just yet (or when it will happen). Hope that clears it up! :D
@Astro thanks for the feedback for check-in! :D
Also, I'm curious about what the marketing/advertising it like for these events? Is there any posters or ads at places like U of C, SAIT, MRU?
Googled csgo tournaments in Calgary.
What did you like about the event?
Easy to register/pay/attend, friendly staff and great tournament type atmosphere.
What did you dislike about the event?
Some CSGO players are inherently cocky (for whatever reason)
Would you attend future LANified! events?
Yes
If you were to tell others why they should attend LANified! events, what would you say?
Lans are great and gaming tournaments are a blast. These events are especially enjoyable if you attend with a group of friends.
What mini-tournaments would you want to see in the future?
Rocket League
What more would you want to see from LANified!?
Lower cost. I'm not sure, but maybe changing the venue would could make it cost less? The first LANified I attended was at a small community hall in Lakeview and it was fine. Also, maybe reduce the prize pool/rewards for tournaments? I think people care more about just going and having a good time, competing to win, rather than going and competing to win a large amount of money. I think people would be totally fine with competing in a tournament to win free pizza ha!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Rocket League Tournaments!
Keep trying guys, these events are fantastic and we appreciate all you do to put them on.
1. When you refer to the cost in your second from last post, which event was that, and what did you pay? We have different pricing, and I want to understand what your perspective is here.
2. Posters, for the Nov LAN we were hoping to run, we had posters up at Sentry Box, Phoenix Comics NW, SW, SE, Ogre's Den, The Node, Video Game Trader N, S, Dicken's Pub, Boogie's Burgers, and UofC. We meant to hit MRU but missed that, and SAIT has weird poster rules so that's been mixed for us. We're always trying to find new good poster spots, so we welcome ideas around that. :)
3. Pizza prizing, I think I like the sound of that...
4. Unfortunately we stopped using Lakeview for reasons beyond our control. :(
5. We're interested in doing Rocket League stuff too, but I think we need to get creative with how to include it to grow a crowd around that. How many others do you know would be interested in RL stuff?
Seriously though, thanks a tonne for your feedback! Even though it was a good chunk of time later ;P
Oh, and your cheering us on to keep trying, that's always lovely to hear <3
I don't remember what I paid before, but as a recently married student, $60 just isn't doable, unfortunately. I've even tried to get others to come with me but they say the same about the cost. I'm sure I could bring 3+ people with me if the price could go a bit lower.
Renting space for events in Calgary hasn't come down at all with the market downturn.
