To VNs mentioned above i would add

G-senjou no Maou - which is very good detective/mystery novel combined with bishojo game

Kindred Spirits on the Roof - yuri eroge VN that is civil enough to be alowed on steam :)

If My Heart Had Wings - which is very nice bishojou VN with beautiful story, but steam version is plagued by bad localization and censorship (they made all ages version out of eroge so not only h-scenes but everything that woudnt be fit for children was removed). you can patch removed stuff back and there should be fan retranslation out very soon

Flowers - cute yuri VN from Innocent Grey (same developer as Kara no Shojo)


From non-steam VNs i would recomend

Kara no Shojo & Kara no Shojo - The Second Epizode - those 2 are brutal dark mystery VNs set in post-war Japan. Both have very intricate plot where every single thing ends up being somehow connected to main story. First one is more brutal, half way thru it turns from mystery to psychological thriler and protagonists is racing against time to find out whats going on before murderer claims another victim. Second KnS game is not as brutal as first one but plot is more nuaced and covers 2 generations. Story is less focused on murders and more on psychological illnesses. Also both KnS have this feature where you cant reach true end on first playthru (and true end is what you really really want), but with second KnS they took this to perfection. On first playthru it will let you get only somehow half-good ending, but once you finish first playthru whole game switches into kind of "advanced mode". menu screen changes, starting animation now celebrates something you only learned by end of story and on second playthru game knows that you already know so it doesnt pretend mysterioznes and shows you scenes that were hidden previosly or you only learned about stuff in them later on. Both true ending and paranoia ending in KnS2 are truly mindblowing. Those 2 games are my all-time favorites! (Sold by Mangagamer)

Ef - a fairy tale of two or divided into Ef - The First Tale and Ef- The Latter Tale its game done by minori
minori is team that puts incredible amount of efford into theyr VNs and production-wise theyr games are one or two levels above everything else in VN genre. It has increadible amount of CGs, scenes are made dynamic by "camera" focusing on different part of CG as characters talk. You have hard time recognising what is character sprite and what is part of CG because they are all very high quality. Characters blink, have lip sync and turns heads in direction of person they are speaking to. Ef is serie of beautifuly crafted tales, it has 7 chapters and first 5 have each different pair of protagonists but its nicely tied together. Game starts on lighthearted note but in second half turn to pretty serious topics. Its really really good, what else to say? (Sold by Mangagamer)
there are two minori games on steam - eden* and Supipara - but they are not 20+ hours long, still worth playing tho

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate (Love, Election and Chocolate) is charming bishoujo game, its not particularly exeptional in anything exept cuteness :), good lighthearted relaxing game
(no official english release, you have to torrent fan-translated version, but translation is very good)

A Kiss For The Petals - New Generation is latest addition to A Kiss For The Petals serie of yuri games. Its less eroge-ish and more story oriented (its still naughty enough to not be allowed on steam). Its very cute game with beautiful CGs. Its proly jsout about 20+ hours mark. (Sold by Mangagamer)

Shiny Days is FMV visual novel, you are basicaly watching anime and making choices. It has 40+ endings, some of them are heart-warming, some of them are hillariosly funny. Incredible amount of work went into crafting game with so many variations and its really lot of fun playing. Game has some drawbacks like protagonist isnt very likeable and game engine is kind of crap, but i would still recommend this. (sold by JAST USA)
