How do Faceit tournaments work?

I am a newbie on Faceit and i am pretty lost as to how everything works so here is my questions. I go into a tournament that i want to enter and on the right hand side i see 'Players Registered' at the moment it says 3/8 so i assume this means 3 out of 8 players have registered and i am lost as to why there is max 8 spots because i don't get how this would be a tournament if only 8 players can register?? I am sure there is something else to it so please let me know how it works.

Also there is two types of tournaments Free and Unlimited where the Unlimited ones say that they require Unlimited membership to join but when i click to register i am fully able to do so can anyone tell me if you can play unlimited tourneys with regular membership like without paying?

The tournaments are all free to a certain extent, 3/8 are the teams not players (yes it does say players it's ment to say teams). If a free user you get put into a free unranked ladder, also as a free user the unlimited tournaments you only get a certain amount each month, where as unlimited subscriber gets unlimited and one free premium tournament per month.

You can register a cup as solo, mix or a premade team therefore allowing you to play in the cup, the free cups are for every user which usually are special occasions e.g. qualifiers to league.
