DRM threatens gaming as we know it. DRM prevents you from using a game in the way you want to use it. DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. some DRM is simple, code wheels and checking manuals, others are more complex. online activation, machine licences, requiring licences.

always online DRM is the biggest threat. at any point a company can take away your game and you won't usually get a refund. want to mod your game? sorry, can't do that. want to play offline? nope. internet gone? no game for you!

not only is DRM a threat to your games, it's a threat to your computer. ubisoft's DRM created a exploit with their Uplay DRM in 2012 and sony's failed DRM for music harmed CD drives, preventing them from ripping and in some cases, prevented reading them and allowed malware to infect computers.

infact, most DRM is malware. remember that sony DRM. uninstalling it just hid it. most DRM can't be removed just like most malware can't be removed.
