Pray, Pray, Pray!!! I can't stress this enough and it's something I need to remember also. Whenever you're dealing with these sins and temptations one of the last things you might want to do is to pray. Get away from everything that is causing you to sin or be tempted and just pray for an escape.
I find the closer I get to God or the more I dwell on Him and all He has done the less I want to sin and give into the temptation. Focus on Jesus and all He has done for you on the cross.
Remember that those sins are what He died to save you from, those sins are the reason He went to the cross.
Another thing I would do is stay off of your phone and computer when facing those urges. Might be a good idea to take a fast from the phone and computer for a while as well.
Don't be afraid to go to God and tell Him your struggle, tell Him everything and be completely honest, He can handle it.
If you see someone you begin to lust after then look away and talk to God about it, ask Him to cleanse your thoughts and bring them in submission to Christ.
Another thing you could try is to find someone to talk to that understands your struggle, someone in your church or family even? Maybe even someone on here. Feel free to send me a message anytime you're struggling, I'll do my best to help you through it and encourage you.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works,
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.
1 Corinthians 6:12
The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 2:1-2
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Mark 1:15
“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
My advice: transmutate that energy doing other activtities.
Use that power and energy for good, instead of leaking away...
But I am in the same boat as OP, I can't really give him any good advice. I don't even know how to go about finding a Christian wife cause it feels like I am living in the middle of sodom and gomorrah.
You can transmutate your energy ESPECIALLY if you are single.
Most guys here are single.
What do you suggest?
That they masturbate and fornicate?
I suggest otherwise: keep your power and energy inside.
"But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion."
The speaker is Paul and he, like many others, never married or had kids; that's what he means whenever he says for others to "be like him". Marriage isn't for everyone, but neither is being single for everyone. It depends upon the person.
I've been single for a while b/c the dating pool is ridiculously tainted with all sorts of poor quality women. Good women have a problem finding good men too. It's always been this way but the severity increases at times when the population in general fall away from God.
To the OP: if you do not think the single life is for you, then get right w/ God first and foremost. Pray for Him to help you in your sin(s) and addiction(s), and to find the right woman. Be patient.
Avoid the "loose" women, unGodly types, those who will manipulate/abuse you, etc. Been down a couple of those roads and it's not worth it; it's better to be single than in a horrible relationship. ;)
(Apologies if I veered off into a tangent on marriage.)
Matthew 19:12
King James Version
12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Genesis 1:27-28
King James Version
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
At least it works for me, work basically kills my lust cause I am too exhausted to care, boredom does the opposite. You could also get in touch with a healthcare professional who might help you with herbal remedies that could reduce libido.
If you want to exhaust yourself, avoid the gym though, it's a trap. Or go to a male only gym if that's a thing where you live. Just avoid looking at naked flesh.
