Then again I was a pretty green Christian at the time I played it a few years back, so I might not have noticed it. I'd stay away either way, if not for that then for the fact you can go through the bulk of the content in 10 hours blind(Normal mode), felt ripped off because I preordered the darned thing and paid full retail price for it.

If you know nothing else about the game, this ought be sufficient to make you pause.
Cults can be religious, but you need not associate them with Christianity. If anything, you do a disservice to Christianity by drawing comparisons.
(I played Infinte BTW).

I considered updating it for the modern REBIRTH game, but I purchased BoI for $1, and feel icky paying money to play the sequel/remake.
So I started the game, and it was more cartoony and console-style simplified than what I was expecting, so that was a big meh for me personally. Also, even though the plot is supposedly gonna be about fighting other darksiders, at least all throughout the opening you're killing Holy angels, so I personally found that pretty tasteless. I mean it's not how RL works, Michael defeats Lucifer etc, and I wouldn't blame a Christian brother that could separate this ludicrousness and see the game through to its completion, but the combination of all these things saw to it that I would not get into the game personally. (I only played the opening few minutes of the game, I hear that most of the game is about fighting other evil characters, but I wouldn't be surprised if Holy angels show up throughout the entire game.)
I actually have spare copies of the game, that includes the warmaster(?) edition.
Since I got an entire franchise pack back then, before it was bundled, I thought maybe I'd try to pick it up later and get my money's worth out of it. So far later has never come, it was an all around cartoony and very casual experience(which I wasn't expecting, thought it had more RPG elements, but it's a very light ARPG IIRC) It incorporates QTE, which isn't a total dealbreaker for me, but again, very casual consoley stuff I don't appreciate. And the cavalier killing of Holy angels is pretty ludicrous and very unrealistic. They should've been running for their lives when the angels came on scene, that would've won me over. :)

At the end of the day, Christian gamers have to realize that the world (including game creators) are stuck in false trope land, where they think good and evil, light and darkness, are opposite but equal forces, this is wrong on so many levels. Darkness is absence of Light, Evil is absence of Good. In the tropes, light isn't really good, like God good... Jedi mind tricks sound good? In reality, God is absolutely Good and absolutely Powerful and Absolutely Just, He could utter a Word and all evil would be destroyed, but He has made these rules and confines so that many would be saved.
May be some crass words/PG-13 in this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LightIsNotGood
And on a final note, the father of lies is great at illusion, the highest form of a lie, lest we forget:
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:14
Christians need to just get their stuff together.
