Well, for Team Fortress 2, it's normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin. For Source FilmMaker, it's normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\
common\SourceFilmmaker\game\bin
, unless "SourceFilmmaker" has a space in it.

Basically, it's the folder which contains StudioMDL.exe, and is usually found in ..\steamapps\common\Game name\bin. (Garry's Mod doesn't have one, though.)

I am running linux, and my bin folder doesn't contain the StudioMDL.exe file.

By using Google, I found "StudioMDL.exe doesn't exist for Mac and Linux", so you wouldn't be able to compile the model, anyway.
Guess i will have to make as nature, and find a way.

I wish you all the best on that MiT. After some googling I found there's no Valve Hammer for Linux either :(
I was so looking forward to do this in Linux. At least not for now :(
