I think I am pretty late on here but I'm still gonna answer.
Barotrauma Legacy, that's how the nonsteam game was called and still is called, was actually thrown away. Developers reworked the game and moved it on steam so new barotrauma can be bought now.. Or well, pirated, though I don't think you'll enjoy playing pirated game nor anyone will.
There IS a Barotrauma Legacy existing and I do play it with my friends sometimes, you can only get that older version (0.8) from people who didn't delete it. How to play? Local network! It always works. *Nods.*

A new master server list was created for legacy!

A lot of people want to play legacy after the server list died.

Go to your Barotrauma installation and edit config.xml. From there you should see masterserverurl and then the old master server. Replace the URL with the new one "http://baromaster.gq/" and then you can start playing again! Feel free to start some new ones so we can play other mods and gamemodes!
