ABOUT Augustana Collegiate Gamers

College Gaming Starts Now!

This is an unofficial Augustana College Steam group which is currently not sponsored by Augie; rather, it is being run by the committed students (present/future students), and undecided students, of the Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Anyone unrelated to the college of Augustana (meaning that he/she is neither committed, deciding, or a current student/affiliate) will be asked to remove himself/herself from the group with risk of banning.

Primarily, this group will be used in the pursuit of meeting and grouping up with potential future (and soon to be present) classmates and in the interest of getting to know one another. As we gain a more concrete understanding of the type of gamers/games we have at our disposal, I may set up specific days where the group will all join up to play a similar game.

Please act in a mature, collegiate, and appropriate manner while using this group and its utilities.

RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Monday Update (2/17)
Multiplayer Survival/Horror Games:

Rust ($19.99): Minecraft-y + DayZ survival in an apocalyptic buildable world. Start off in a caveman-like scenario where all you have is a rock to begin collecting wood and minerals. From there, you can choose to scavenge the surrounding areas or begin building up of a safe haven for you and your allies. Buildable bases are possible.

Nether ($19.99): DayZ + Outlast/Resident Evil-y survival in an overgrown and beautiful city landscape. One fears the mutants more so than other players. Looting is less common in this game; you must complete quests for the traders or kill for the majority of your supplies and cash. In game economy where many things are purchasable. Recently, a faction/gang system has been implemented leading to wars erupting over the smallest street corner or underground tunnel.

Project Zomboid ($14.99): Soon to be 3D-based sprite multiplayer functional gameplay where survival against the endless dead will inevitably bring your death. Nearly endless craftable/buildable items/buildings. Also has Single player unlike the two above.

Multiplayer/Single Player Minecraft-like Games:

Minecraft ($19.99): Obviously this had to be here due to the many clone-like games which this has spawned. If you don't know what Minecraft is, please remove yourself from the internet :D. It's essentially a block-based game revolving around crafting, building, and exploring. Less action oriented but many mods to choose from to enhance the game. Personally not a fan favorite of mine.

Terraria ($9.99): 2D side scrolling game set in a fantasy world where exotic mobs and bosses are your enemies. Less building oriented than Minecraft and more concentrated on the actions of the individual/group than on your ability to make a beautiful house. You'll get a lot for your money here; if you consider yourself a PC gamer, this is a must have.

Starbound ($14.99): Reread what Terraria is and then amplify that to a galactic scale. This is the ultimate 2D side scrolling game in existence (clearly I am biased to Terraria and Starbound so it may be in your best interest to look at them yourselves). This game is currently in development but many of the features such as unique races and lore along with nearly 4 quadrillion planets to visit and a plethora of star systems to travel to make this game an enjoyable one despite the early access state of it.

Multiplayer/Single Player Strategy Games:

Endless Space ($29.99): Turn-based space game set in a galactic universe competing for the right to reign sovereign. Many ways to win (economically, culturally, militarily, or scientifically) with multiple races to choose from or make your own with whatever traits you find more useful.

Civilization V ($29.99 or HumbleBundle's price being around $10.00, limited time offer for February only): The strategy game that started it all, a turn-based game set at the beginning of time on a varying degree of randomly generated maps. Advance through the ages as one of the many historical nations or install one of the many mods out on the Steam Workshop to expand the gameplay into new possibilities.

Multiplayer Shooter Games:

Sorry CoD users, I am not a fan so this will not be listed as an option but it is completely plausible that many of you could game with each other on there.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive ($14.99): Basically the ultimate shooter game for anyone that wants the possibility of having fun in a competitive scenario with the possibility of making a few bucks off of it to be used towards Steam. It’s a hard game to describe so I would just recommend you look into it.

Well guys, that just about wraps this list up, feel free to comment below. Tell us what you think of the list and/or if you believe you know of another game that could be another possibility for us all to play on. Have a great rest of your day everyone.

P.S.: Do me a favor and click on the discussions tab in the group page and on the right side click "subscribe to forum" this will help us keep in touch on that avenue as well.

This group needs a good ol' jump-start. So if anyone wants to play games/partake in shenanigans, add me on steam, message me, add me on skype (BennySisko), whatever works.
