Project WTF 1.5 Beta Patch Released!

Hi everyone,

It is here! I'm excited to announce the grand release of Character Skills on Coop Extreme! This is a huge achievement for the server and we can't wait for players like you to join in the chaos and have a good time!

Changelog:

1. Implemented character skills for L4D1 and L4D2 survivors
2. Included additional commands into the !help command on join

So what's next?

For the next 1 month, I will focus on bug fixes and adjusting character abilities based on player feedback. I will also be creating another poll in this period to vote in custom campaigns on the workshop.

In the future, new patches of Project WTF will be released monthly in the following order. Note that server features will be voted based on another poll and there will only be like 1 or 2 more these before I focus on new characters and campaigns!

Explanation of the Character Skills in Project WTF 1.5 Beta

Hi everyone,

Here is a detailed explanation of how character skills will work in the upcoming patch.

First things first, characters are now divided into 4 classes, named Assault, Support, Tank and Controllers.

Assault characters specialize in taking out Special Infected (or SI) and dealing huge damage to them in a short period of time. They also have skills that increase their movement speed or ways to cover ground more easily. Assault characters usually specialize in SMGs and Assault Rifles

Support characters specialize in healing the team with permanent HP. They also have skills that may affect the team as a whole, such as damage increase and armor, map awareness etc. Support characters usually specialize in SMGs and Sniper Rifles

Tank characters specialize in taking damage and being at the frontlines. They have skills that allow them to survive hit after hit. They also have skills that grant them temporary HP. Tank characters usually specialize in Shotguns and Auto Shotguns

Controller characters specialize in crowd control, mainly the zombie hordes to give the team some breathing space. They have skills such as increased grenade capacity and proficiencies in bonus weapons like the Grenade Launcher and M60.

Now that you have a general idea of how the classes work, below are the list of characters that have been designated into the roles. I am not planning to change their roles as they have been carefully selected based on their biographies and AI playstyle.

1. Assault - Nick and Bill

2. Support - Zoey and Ellis

3. Tank - Coach and Francis

4. Controller - Rochelle and Louis

Now then, the second part is how are skills being activated? They fall into 5 different types. All classes have at least 1 of each

Weapon proficiency - This is based on the character class mentioned above. Characters who are proficient in their weapon group enjoy 50% bonus reload speed.

On Kill - Skills that activate for 30 secs upon killing a Special Infected

On Hurt - Skills that activate for 15 secs on hurting a Special Infected with a proficient weapon. They usually have a proc rate to it

On Item Use - Skills that activate for 45 secs after using an Item. Assault characters use grenades, Support characters use First Aid Kits, Defibrillators etc., Tanks use Pain Pills or Adrenaline and Controllers use grenades.

Passive - Skills that are always active.

To find out what skills a character has, type in !info or /info into the chat. Some characters may have some 'modes' in their skills which are toggled using the !cs1 and !cs2 or /cs1 and /cs2 commands.

Over the next few days, I will start implementing the skills into the server. You will be able to play with all of them by this Saturday 22 July 2023. Do note there may be some bugs to iron out throughout.

And that's not all, there are also custom characters from the Workshop that are planned to be added into the server. Expect to see some crazy skills in some of them like nukes, summon NPCs etc. in the far future.
