Why would polar ice caps melting cause water level to rise?
If there is an ice cube in water and it melts the level of water would stay the same. The Ice cube would displace just as much water as it would add as it melted.

melting arctic (north pole) ice will not really change sea level. The ice cube analogy applies (same mass of water in the ice as in the amount of water displaced by the ice). Unfortunately, antarctica (nad greenland) ice is largely on land (not floating) and melting that ice will add water to the oceans. The amount of ice on land in those two locations is enough to raise sea levels by about 80 meters if completely melted (not that this is likely to happen, and if it does it will be a long long time coming).


seems to me that if the ice in greenland and the ice in antartica were to melt then an investment in jet skees might be in order. Better sell that waterfront property and migrate to higher land to avoid the deluge... or then again maybe its just a scam to get your property... also maybe not all the facts have been gathered yet.
