Only four hours in, but I can tell that this is the ghost hunting game I have wanted for decades.

Instead of just plopping the main character into some remote and isolated environment where you have a squirt gun full of holy water - or whatever - to kill supernatural threats, this game is set in 1908 London. You journey across the city, moving through layers of society, and facing as many adversities from gangs, rivals, and bureaucracy as you do from the supernatural.

If you’re looking for survival horror – this ain’t it.

If you’re looking for a story about ghost hunting, this game is well worth your money.

My expectations were high going into An English Haunting, and it delivered in spades. The visuals and sound design are even better than in Nightmare Frames, and the story, atmosphere and rich cast of characters are at the standard we've become to expect from Postmodern Adventures, plus of course there's a good helping of puzzles to guide the story along. I'm already looking forward to the studio's next classic!

A lovely game so far. The writing is clever and flavourful, and the world is excellently rendered in chunky pixels.

It is a traditional adventure game though, with a traditional adventure games highly specific progression. I'm currently stumped by a dark room, an oil lamp, and a distinct lack of matches.

There's no voice acting, but the music and ambience are excellent.
