I had my eye on Signalis long before its launch, and it was a delight to finally get around to playing it. The return-to-form gameplay, reminiscent of classic horror games like Resident Evil, elevates Signalis to one of the best indie games (and perhaps even horror games) of all time. The original PS1 Resident Evil games were terrifying yet thrilling, as death often meant significant loss. But even with the infinite saves in Signalis, the game's environments and enemies instill a profound sense of fear, making each return genuinely terrifying.

The gameplay is enhanced by its rich approach to storytelling. The sci-fi setting offers a treasure trove of lore to players who want to delve into the supplemental texts hidden throughout the game. It feels rewarding to piece the broader narrative together, while still leaving ample room for interpreting the granular details—a balance that most interpretive or expressionist games tend to struggle with.

All in all, I would highly recommend Signalis. It was worth the wait and then some.
