Hi Solstice fans,

Welcome to the 2nd update to Solstice of 2021.

We've been working through feedback from players, and have added a couple of new features,

1) Added auto hide/reveal so characters without armies will be automatically hidden, keeping them safe from attack. This can be toggled on/off in the options menu.

2) Added new character traits, in addition the fear and fatique, characters now have a bravery, loyality and recklessness statistic, which affect how well they handle fear, the chances of changing sides and adds additional depth to how they plan their battles.

3) Fixed a number of small typos. Still searching for them all, but we're getting there.

4) Made some small improvements to the AI.

That's it for now. We're planning a few more fixes and improvements before we more from Early Access to the full release, and we'll let you know more about that soon.

I see this and I instantly think of legions or ashworld but I wonder what sets it apart

My main question is at what scale can the player command at aka am I just a general a commander of a few generals and so on up the chain or am I like in ashworld supreme commander over my faction and another thing I wonder is what does the ai do and what can the player do to influence the game and finally how dynamic is the game campaign to campaign if the player did the exact same thing both times or did nothing what effect would the ai have on game A vs game B...

New Year Update.

Happy New Year Solstice and Retro fans.

We know we're slow on Solstice updates, but here we are with a small update. We've improved the front-end adding a new options menu on the front screen, and tidying up some menus and added a little more conformity.

We've got plans for a new scenario soon, and some new terrain pieces, so watch this space in the next month or so.

In the meantime, enjoy the update, and fight the good fight!.

Hi all,

Well, it's been quite a while, just over a year in fact since we last updated Solstice. We'd been working on it behind the scenes but weren't ready to release, but here we are, so what's new?

1) We've added a new scenario management system, so you can select from a planned range of new scenarios. We've added a new, shorter game The Captive, which is about half the size of The Rise of the Demon King, to ease new players into the game.

2) We've added 8 new terrain pieces to the game, which will add additional challenges and new experiences to your games.

3) We've added two new races, the Halfling, and their nemeses, the Goblin. Both are hardy fighters, but both can easily be outclassed against sturdier warriors.

4) We've made a few changes to the GUI in various areas to make the game more intuitive.

5) Lastly, we've made a number of bug fixes and tweaks to improve overall game-play.

That's it for now, we've got a lot more planned for the next couple of months, so, for now, just enjoy, and please report any issues.

Hi all. We apologise for not having updated Solstice for nearly a year. We have been working on it behind the scenes, and have a new scenario, a couple of new races and a number of new terrain pieces that will add additional challenges to your battles. All being well, we'll update in a couple of weeks....

Map

It would be good to have a map with some general labels on it - just like the ones on the back of the LoM and DDR boxes. Labelled with the main cities and areas. Particularly with Fenron labelled, as we have to protect it, but unless I've missed something, I have no idea where it is. Love the game so far, although one thing I've noticed is that invariably, some characters are automatically at night after starting the next day. I definitely didn't move them but they have no movement available, so it looks ...

Bug : Crash looking "Ahead" at an unusual Fortress

The game seems quite stable so far, but I just had a crash on Day 8 while looking "Ahead" at a Fortress. I didn't had the time to take note of the name of the place, but it had a quite unusual look, like a mountain with the head of a woman sculpted on it....

System requirements

I think 'very retro wargame' should run on WinXP, especially when it uses Dx9. We will not reveal it to Steam officials ;)
