Nice, succinct Metroidvania. Definitely feels similar to particularly Order of Ecclesia with the different Orb power ups. Really cool time stopping mechanic that also feels similar to Luna Nights.

Would recommend, short but absolutely made with care.

Timespinner is unassuming, unique, unambiguous in the state of flow it carries as it weaves together a surreal, enchanting, even transfixing experience. The setting and characters are truly fantastical, unbound by our social, political, sexual, and structural norms yet all the more human for it. The world itself appreciates you for exploring by endowing you with gift after gift for doing even the smallest of platforming puzzles. The combat surprising you with its seemingly endless variety and allowing itself to become a true test of skill on the harder difficulties.

I truly believe Timespinner to be the peak of the Vania side of the Metroidvania genre. Taking full advantage of the strengths of the RPG elements while leaving behind the tedium. I played through this game in full 3 times back to back because I wasn't ready to let such an enchanting experience go that quickly.

I enjoyed this game and recommend it with a caveat.

Wait for a sale. I got it at a 70% discount and had fun, but I would have been pissed if I payed full price.

This is very easy Metroidvania, its a short, fun, easy romp if you get it at a discount. The most difficult part of the game is the beginning, where your character hasn't leveled up. As soon as you increase your levels and get better weapons you can steamroll over the rest of the game. Some people don't like that it is so easy, but I saw it as a cheap, distracting break from some harder games I was playing at the time.

The story is stupid, just ignore it and enjoy the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night nostalgia vibes it sends out.
