The game used to work without issues. Could be either a steam client update, or the game update that broke this. I am using arch linux.

no xbox controller support? also crashes on start "failed to initialize direct3d"

Hi when i start this up the first time it works but there is no controller functionality (even when changing to display controller keys in the controller settings.

Windows recognizes my xbox controller - im pretty sure i have installed drivers for it.

So anyway i try another tip i googled (ie disable HID controller device)

Unfortunately when i try starting The Walking Dead again.... i get...

"Unable to initalize direct3d"

Im baffled that the game would start the first time but not even start up the 2nd time.

my system is

i5-4690k
16 gig ram
Gigabyte GTX980
Win7 64 bit

Any ideas?

Anyone actually figure out Failed to Initialize Direct3D with current settings issue?

People like me having this problem cannot option the OPTIONS tab as it crashes so we cannot change the screen. We cannot get past the launch screen - it crashes. I am assuming there has to be a download fix as I read from NVIDIA they are working on the issue? But again, anyone figure this out? I should at least get a $5 off coupon for my next game!

I have windows 8, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M. I am not sure what to disable. I cannot get into OPTION so I cannot change any options. I cannto disable motherboard graphics adapter because it doesn't exist. Any suggestions on how to just get this started? Thank you,

Another solution for the Directx 9 / "Failed to initialize player" error:
Go to your Tyranny gamefolder and search for "d3d9.dll" and "dxgi" - delete both dlls and the game should start. Tested with gog-version only so far, feedback is welcome.
