Only the endgame has been updated, the entire progression is meaningless and forgettable due to how easy it is (which is very ironic, considering progression is the most important aspect of an RPG)

this isnt an RPG
if you think it is, this is not the right Franchise for you

But I guess it could loosely be tied to their future 'plans'. Note "Automated Terrain Generation" and "Trainz Procedural Nodez". Makes little sense, but *maybe* they disabled what they already had to make way for these things:

Can anyone tell me what the functional difference in loot is between a higher level monster with more stars than a lower level monster with less stars? because so far i't just feels that the higher level ones just take more time and give a small boost in drops, but as you get the same loot from the easier ones isn't it a bit pointless to take on the more difficult ones?

I dont mean the difference between tempered and untempered ones. I do know that you get Hunter symbols from tempered quests.
i was more thinking about the difference between tempered difficulties and what rewards you get from two of the same monsters in the opposite range of difficulty there.
