Probably a mistake by the devs

Outside 'item occurences' like these 'off-site' large fragments, and many small crates, are 'semi-randomly' placed during the set up process. Unless it is an item within the (invisible) perimeter of a wreck/scatter, it was just a fluke, not a designed placement.

Why do so many people immediately jump to "mistake by the devs" for anything odd or randomized in a game?

i just dont dont understand why this would happen 99% of all players are going to get a seamoth before they build a prawn

You said earlier you're considering a desktop for gaming this winter. GeForce NOW is basically a free online service that lets you skip that.

Your integrated graphics likely can't run Wildgate well - even with very low settings it will most likely not be a nice experience. GeForce NOW runs it on their servers and sends the game to your screen. You play normally - move, shoot, everything works like local gaming. Your controls go back to their servers instantly.

It's either a temporary solution until you buy a gaming PC, or permanent to save the money entirely. Since you said you don't have high demands, the free version might be all you ever need.

Just try it - you'll understand immediately how it works.

Ok, so, let's run with the Shader thing because you mention that seems to what caused this. Unsure if you have tried this - Sorry if I'm repeating what you already tried (I'm copy/pasting google results):


Clearing Nvidia Driver Shader cache:

Nvidia control panel
Manage 3D Settings
Shader Cache Size -> Disabled

Can be set back to original setting at least once single start of the game is done, not sure if can be just set back right away.
Needs to be done for specific game if the game has a profile with changed settings.

Steam shader cache:

Delete file(s) inside
\steamapps\shadercache\526870\Nvidiav1

(I don't know about this - I just checked my folder and it's empty)

Start "Disk Cleanup"
Select the drive your Windows Profile is on (default C:)
Select "DirectX Shader Cache" and untick everything else
If the size of that is "0 bytes", then the drive selection was probably wrong
Press OK


The other thing you could try is reinstalling/rolling back your GPU drivers
