I stop picking up all the guns after a while, generally after my first ship build. I like building early on to rush the starship design trait. Capturing ships isn't always worthwhile as the upgrades can cost more than buying a ship with higher level components. Having watchtower is cool though, as I can design the ships as I go along, then give them to my fleet. There are mods that do all the money stuff, but without an outpost system/colonies you can't really create a space economy of your own.

I hope there's an expansion for outposts to found colonies and maybe create links as said above^, maybe through LIST

Yea, a DLC for outposts/settlements/colonies could be really sweet! I use all the mods to enhance this area of gameplay, but its a lot of work to have 37 outposts, most of which are resource & shipping based to funnel them to my manufacturing & sales hub, A DLC could streamline a lot of this, so its really well fleshed out, and offers different levels of engagement and management.

I still pick up the weapons if they have legendaries & traits, since they can be recycled with the legendary recycler mod on nexus, then applied to other weapons lol.
