Honest Opinion from a “Veteran” Fan of the Battlefield Franchise
เมื่อสักครู่นี้
NIO
First of all, I put “veteran” because of the amount of time I’ve played the games in the franchise. I started “playing” at around 6–7 years old with 1942. At that time, I was more just walking around and shooting without aiming than actually playing, but from then on I only increased my Battlefield playtime.

Consider that I’ve spent at least around 150–300 hours, if not more (cough cough BF3 and BF4), on each game of the franchise. I’ve always been a big fan, and in the past I bought games far less frequently than today. With that, I can say I’ve played through the following games in the franchise:

    BF 1942BF 2 (Best mechanics of the whole franchise)BF 2142 (Miss you, Titan mode)BF BC 1 and 2 (The ones I liked the least from the pre-BF4 era)BF 3BF 4BF 1BF V (still counts as a Battlefield, I guess)BF 2042 (not much to say here)BF 6 Beta

Now let’s go over the points I’m considering from the Beta so far 08/16/2025 , with about 40.6 hours of playtime. First I’ll list some general positives and negatives, then I’ll dive deeper into each map. And just to remember: we’re talking about the Beta, not the final product.

Positives

TTK — yes, unbelievably, I think TTK is well-applied for what a Battlefield game should feel like. HOWEVER , the maps can ruin this experience, and I’ll talk about that in the negatives. It manages to bring back that frantic war feeling that shouldn’t come from game speed, but from destruction, well-made explosions, smoke, bullet tracers flying everywhere, and 64 soldiers clashing over a territory. That has always been the main reason, at least for me, to play Battlefield: it always felt cinematic.Play however you want within the right conditions. Can you use a shotgun at long range with slugs? Yes, but it won’t be the most efficient. Personally, my fun comes from indirect suppressive fire — an LMG or DMR well-positioned to assist or eliminate enemies at range. For now, this has only really worked on Liberation Peak.Environmental destruction that strongly reminds me of BC2 — almost everything is destructible. Someone hiding behind a wall? C4 or a rocket launcher fixes it.Vehicles feel heavier, less absurdly overpowered. Unlike 2042, where aircraft are basically gods in the skies and tanks with AA are gods on the ground, in BF6 the vehicle physics feel much more interesting. Is it harder to use them? Yes. So are they weak? Absolutely not. If well-positioned, they’re just as strong as in other Battlefield games.Restricted weapons per class — I like this idea, BUT at the same time I like being able to level up weapons with the only support class, since I’ve always played indirect fire roles and preferred helping the team rather than being assault infantry or an engineer. I even think the attachment system could be tied to classes… maybe.

Negatives

The maps make TTK seem like a negative. The game is basically focused on CQB, which makes TTK feel way too low.Weapon choice doesn’t seem to matter. Except for Liberation Peak, I could use any weapon on any map without issue.Precision rifles — snipers are just bad, plain and simple. As someone who always “platinumed” the recon kit first in the franchise, here snipers only have value for C4, radar, or portable spawn. I’ll expand on this in the classes section.Maps are way too small. This makes high rate-of-fire/low-recoil guns dominate, leaving 60–70% of the arsenal basically irrelevant. (Shotguns + SMGs = GOD TIER)Lack of mechanics that make players use more than 30% of their brain. Why defend C in Cairo if we can just grab D, then take C back later since no one ever defends points ? This is, to me, the main reason hardcore fans feel this is turning into “CODfield.”About Secure Boot — well… I hate the idea! There are other ways to deal with cheaters and keep the game clean without having more privilege over my PC than I do.—

Siege of Cairo
Type: Urban CQB with few mid-range firefight points.

Beautiful map with good potential, but without penalties for losing flag points, it feels a lot like COD MW3’s market map.

Vehicles are broken here due to engineers sticking to them, making them nearly indestructible.

Size: small/medium, with direct streets allowing mid-range engagements.

Due to size and soldier speed, flanking is too easy.

Iberian Offensive
Type: Medium CQB. With more points and a bigger scale, it could be one of the best maps.

Vehicles play a strong role here but aren’t broken like in Cairo.

No reason to use snipers (as in most maps) since points are too close.

One of the most well-rounded maps.

Liberation Peak
Type: Medium/large scale.

Biggest Beta map and the most fun for me. Should lean toward being REALLY BIG like Caspian Border or Battle of the Bulge.

More climbable mountains (like between C and D) would help indirect fire roles.

Empire State
Type: CQB and urban chaos. Didn’t understand this one — it’s absurdly small and confusing. Surviving more than 1 minute means hiding at spawn.

Too much detail for such a small map.

Indoor areas add more chaos — too many corners and tight spaces.

Typical experience: spawn → 3–5s run → kill → die → repeat.

Expanding with two full avenues could fix it.

Points to Watch

Soldier speed is way too high, making maps feel smaller.

Weapon recoil needs distinct patterns to avoid guns feeling the same. LMGs feel weak, snipers feel like airsoft rifles, while SMGs and shotguns dominate.

Classes are mostly fine, but snipers need higher damage, RPGs could use 1–2 more rounds, etc.

What I Think Would Really Improve the Game

Tone down the “always on coke” infantry vibe.

Bring back BF2-style map mechanics. Make defending points matter (exclusive vehicles, AA spawn, etc.).

Force more cooperation. Add 15s respawn timers, harsher ticket penalties, and meaningful Squad Leader + Commander roles.

Bring back Commander mechanics: UAV, supplies, vehicles, artillery strikes, command orders that grant extra points.

Give squad roles more value. Want LMG attachments? Play support. Using the wrong class gives you -70% weapon XP.

Make weapon progression harder (30–40 kills per match is too easy).

Squads of 6, please.

Add a bit of roleplay essence from Squad. BF2 already had it, and it was great.

BF6 is practically THE GAME we’ve been waiting for after so many disappointments. That’s why older titles are still benchmarks: no one has recreated those truly great experiences. Even if money is the main reason for a game this size, at least give us something we can proudly say: “I bought the Phantom Edition on pre-order.”

Here’s my plea: deliver something actually revolutionary today, not just “lots of marketing and little substance.”

For me, as of now, the game is an 8.2 / 10 .

Now after playing it enough: It´s way tooooo fast for a battlefield game.

โพสต์ดั้งเดิมโดย Some Kinda Kobold:
Ive run into FAR more SMG users than shotgun users. Like, 1 shotgun for every 15 SMGs.

And 'fast'? Have you played BF 3 onwards? The most popular maps in 3/4 were infantry only maps and every single Map otherwise is almost always condensed on 1-2 flags. Not exactly fun having to run from your spawn to an active fight for several minutes. Only to die and have to do it again.
You never moved at this crackhead speed in any other battlefield. It’s like permanent tactical sprint.

Sprint needs to be slower and they need to finally change that up a bit but the right way with little balanced ideas such as this faster tactical sprint if you have only your sidearm out. You can move faster but are balanced by possibly getting caught off guard with a pistol.

You know it was some suits who wanted this super speed and bunny hopping crap on these small maps so streamers will have more exciting footage. Long gone are the days of a vehicle being used so you don’t have to cross a dessert on foot, now vehicles used just for more kills.

It’s definitely a more dumbed down or “streamlined” version of BF in pretty much all ways but for me the maps are the worst problem since they are the stand out feature of any BF game, huge maps that don’t feel like maps but little open worlds thst a large scale war is happening on. I don’t think they have any devs there anymore capable of making a single memorable map much less a game full. This is what happens when you fire the ones responsible for a products success to begin with, and replace them with activists. You get generic brown shooter starring 6 foot Asian women running around with two rocket launchers each. They aren’t even capable of just copying the work of the good devs that came before them, and they shamelessly ask for more money than any of the other games ever lol. I’d say they are delusional but I’ll let the fact that they just put a females head into a man’s body say that for me.
