I think the game suffers from feature creep, or they want to make the game too perfect. On paper it's good but in reality, it just means the work never ends. They keep adding and redoing stuff rather than working toward the release they set in the beginning.

To me a good chargen for this game is relatively simple:
- Choose one of the preset appearance
- Choose the starting skills you want (and live with your mistakes if you mess up, it's part of the fun)

You can add bells and whistle and new type of gameplay but that can be done later after you added the promised features.
