Instead of just denying factually correct statements and ridiculing someone that clearly has more knowledge on the matter than you, it would be appreciated if you remain away from this topic. Since you clearly have a very unique way of viewing this. Dragging real sports and player competition into the matter eventhough it was solely about difficulty of games.

Funny how you can be so wrong and still think that you are right and knowledgeable in the matter, while reality just destroys your points. SF5 had easier execution than SF4 and was more succesful. SF6 has easier execution than SF5 and is more successful, GGS has easier execution than GGXrd and is more successful. Sorry, but you really don't know what you're talking about.



A couple of things.


Guilty Gear Strive completely wiped its identity for the sake of 'popularity'. It has character assassinated several of its core characters (Testament and Bridget) and completely gutted it's gameplay identity by removing not just execution standards, but slowing the pace, reducing movelists, and homogenizing combo routes. There is a reason the smash community has flocked to it, and it's not because it's inherently a superior game. You are also ignoring that Strive came out at the peak time when FG was becoming mainstream. Dragon ball, the most mainstream anime in America, came out with a fighting game and introduced a lot of new people into the genre. Influencers were gaining traction because people were locked up during covid and more people were exploring different things, including FG games.

Street Fighter has a devout fanbase. They would buy Street Fighter if it became a gacha game. People bought Street Fighter 5 at launch and the franchise recovered from that. Let's take your argument to it's logical extreme. Gacha games are VASTLY more lucrative and popular than Street Fighter. So let's reduce move lists to three buttons and duke it out. Why not? Easier = More popular right? Is it even a success for a franchise if the game had to sacrifice everything that it was for more players?

Finally Tekken 8. The poster boy for "Let's make our game super easy!" And look what has happend. Everyone is unhappy with its casino gameplay. Tekken 8 is the prime example of the logical conclusion of the accessibility argument. It was never going to stop at execution, it was always going to lead to the impact of the 'neutral, the footsies, the real true game' modern defenders always claim is still intact with accessibility game design.


Your over-simplification just doesn't play out in the real world. Where is Fantasy Strike? YOMI? Why aren't these games surpassing SF and Tekken? You are ignoring the fact that these big games are sitting on the foundation of culture you seem to hate, execution and skill. There would be no SF 6 Without SF 4. No Tekken 8 without Tekken 6. Ironically, it's the games that start with a low execution ceiling that fail to break into the market share. Even Granblue fantasy proves this point. Granblue Rereleased with even less incentives to use manual inputs. It should be the top dog in based on your claims.
