Legileg, you keep framing this as if my main issue is not understanding Early Access. That’s not the case, and it’s misrepresenting what I actually said.
If you say that there are too few choices in the game, and I reply that it’s because you only have access to 30% of the content and that the consequences of your decisions will only become apparent in later quests when we deliver them, and then you respond that EA is no excuse... then how else am I supposed to understand you?

First, I never claimed stamina and dodge being inspired by Dark Souls was the only problem. My point was that the way it’s currently implemented in this game feels directly lifted from Souls titles, and it doesn’t fit Chernobylite’s tone or identity. Saying “a lot of games do it” doesn’t address whether it works for this game. That’s the actual concern I’ve been raising.

But I agree with that statement - I just want to go into detail. Maybe let me put it another way. Have you ever played Condemned? That game came out before the Souls series. It was one of the first games to allow melee combat in FPP. It relied on dodging and stamina management, yet it didn’t feel like a Souls game at all. So why does Chernobylite? What exactly is it about? Is it the way the character attacks? How enemies react to hits? How they behave after death? I’m simply trying to find deeper meaning in this ‘feel’ you’re describing, rather than just generalities.

Second, you claim you “asked for more information,” “agreed to three points,” and “engaged in further discussion” on others. But if you look at your own replies, most boil down to “wait for the full release”, “we already have X in some form”, or “that’s just your opinion”. That’s exactly the pattern I summarized. Asking for more info means little if you don’t actually engage with the reasoning behind my points.

I completely disagree with that. If I ask you what loot boxes mean to you, I genuinely want to understand what you mean. If I ask you what you mean by better combat, I genuinely expect an answer like ‘the animations are too slow’ or ‘the block should work like in game X.’ If I wanted to ignore you, I would simply ignore you and reply to someone else

Third, Early Access isn’t a shield against criticism of the current state. Steam’s own Early Access FAQ says players are paying for and judging what’s available right now. The idea is to act on feedback during EA, not tell players to hold it until release. When I point out that loot feels generic, enemies repetitive, and combat systems misplaced, that’s feedback about the current experience — exactly what EA is for.

Of course, that’s exactly why we made Early Access. Nevertheless, if you’re demanding content that doesn’t exist yet, it’s pretty obvious that you’ll have to wait for it, right? You can also probably understand that not all changes can be implemented, and that not every change has to appeal to everyone, correct? If you truly don’t like the game at all, then making changes will probably only make you like it at best moderately, while someone who currently enjoys it might end up liking it less. So if someone says the game is absolute total garbage (which you’ve written many times in many places), their feedback should be approached with particular caution.

Finally, calling my expectations “irrational” because I think core gameplay direction should be addressed before release is not fair. I’m not asking you to fix everything “by tomorrow,” but EA is precisely when design fundamentals can still be adjusted. Waiting until release to fix major gameplay identity issues risks cementing them permanently.

I’m here pointing out fit, design identity, and execution problems now — not denying that you’re in Early Access. If you want meaningful feedback, this is the time to use it, not dismiss it. [/quote]

I have never said anywhere that we won’t fix as many issues as possible before release. I also never told you that you have to wait until release — those were YOUR own words. We’ve just released a huge patch whose main goal was to address as many reported issues as possible, and we intend to keep doing that until launch.

You also can’t accuse me of not listening to community feedback. In both this game and the previous one, there are dozens of examples of changes made based on community feedback — including a whole lot of requests coming directly from the community. But that doesn’t mean I have to listen to everyone, especially if someone is behaving in a toxic manner. If you are constructive and open, I’ll be happy to listen to what you have to say. After all, I started this conversation with you for a reason, right?"
