Lost world gives you a bunch of mechanics the. Proceeds to never use them. It's playdoe levels are also just terrible.

Yeah because Frontiers definitely doesn't have anything like that. Y'know, except for the Crane puzzle, the god awful pinball minigame and the hacking minigame that shows up once or twice and then out of nowhere is the gameplay style of the final boss.

Genuinely one of the worst final bosses of any game ever. Like genuinely god awful difficulty spike that is basically a completely different game. Like imagine playing through DOOM and the final boss is a Rhythm Heaven level. Worst part of any game I have played.
I'm not a fan of Frontiers' final boss either, but it does at least build up its mechanics via the hacking mini-games you play leading up to it. And playing on Easy or Normal mode skips this entire fight and goes straight to the last QTE (which feels very anti-climatic).

It's still far from one of the worst final bosses I've ever experienced, though, because I've played Rayman 2 The Great Escape and know exactly what a trainwreck of a final boss looks like.

Is slower than Mario in N64.
....?????

First off, its... supposed to be slow? Kind of the point? It's the combat focused part of the game. It's not like the levels are super massive where this would be an issue anyway.

And Mario 64 is slow? Have you even played the game???
That's exactly the point.
I've played Mario 64 - it's a slower game compared to most other Sonic games, so having a Sonic game where you can't even go faster than Mario or other mascot platformers like Crash and Spyro kind of defeats the entire purpose of a Sonic game. It's why people don't like playing as Big in Sonic Adventure, or Silver in Sonic 2006 - they too are slower than Mario and are more sluggish to control as well.

Also, much like Lost World, they gave Werehog a run button similar to 2D Mario games when the whole point of Sonic was that he didn't need a run button to move fast.

Sonic Heroes also has combat, but rarely does it ever feel slow or sluggish as it's still a fast paced platformer even during combat. Characters move fast and you can easily one-shot flying enemies with a Level 2/3 Thunder Shoot.

And again RNG QTE are not a good mechanic. Only people who think they are. Is the same type of person to get trapped in a starting room in Metroid dread.
I have no idea what this analogy even means bruh. Like how does that even work? Surely other people being better at the QTE's than you implies that theu WOULD be better at other games. LMAO
Skill issue isn't a valid argument, as I can absolutely hate on QTEs without bringing up skill into the mix. They actually give the game a lot less depth and substance than they would if those same sections actually allowed you to play them yourself, and that's one reason why many people, such as myself, hate them so much.

It's not just a point against Sonic Unleashed, either. QTEs were everywhere in the late 2000's, with Resident Evil 4 kickstarting this terrible trope. The result of this was a
non-interactive boulder chase where all you do is mash buttons to escape the boulder:

Incredibly lazy game design, especially when compared to games released prior that actually let you play out these sequences yourself via the same core mechanics used elsewhere in the game:

Crash Bandicoot back in 1996 had far more interesting boulder chase sequences than RE4 did 8 years later.

The medal collection are hated completely justifiably
not really, usually just a skill issue.
I and many others got roadblocked at Jungle Joyride Day with its harsh medal requirements of 120 Sun Medals, which is more than how many there are in the whole game! BTW Shattered Crystal got the exact same flack for forcing you to explore linear levels for all the same reasons.

Even this wouldn't be much of an issue if it was structured more like a collect-a-thon game with open stages that are designed for you to explore, which is why nobody minds the memory tokens or vault keys being required in Frontiers. It also helps that the requirements are far more lenient.

Sonic adventure doesn't force you to collect an x amount of emblems to progress with the story.
No but it does force you to play as Big The Cat, which is frankly much worse
That's only if you want to play as Super Sonic and finish the Last Story. :SuperSonic:
If you really want to, you can experience Sonic Adventure 1 just by playing Sonic's campaign and get a really good 2-3 hour campaign out of it with Sonic defeating Eggman at the end, so it still makes for a satisfying conclusion if you want to end it there.
