Black roman procurator

Quintus Lollius Urbicus, who was from what’s now Algeria, served as governor of Britain in the 2nd century. There are also inscriptions from Hadrian’s Wall showing North African soldiers stationed there one even commemorates a Moorish cavalryman.
And the idea that auxiliaries only stayed “local” isn’t accurate. The Romans often deliberately sent units far from home so they wouldn’t have local ties so you’d definitely find people from Africa, Gaul, and elsewhere serving in Britain.
The U.S. in Iraq analogy doesn’t really fit either. Rome wasn’t just an occupying army; it was a multi-ethnic empire where provincials could work their way into citizenship, military command, even the Senate. One emperor, Septimius Severus, was literally North African.
So the “zero Africans in Britain” claim doesn’t hold up at all.

I don't know if your being disingenuous or dull. You know that he is talking about sub Saharan black Africans, once again your example is a person of Berber/Phoenician ethnicity. People from North African , especially in antiquity were Berber/Phoenician/Greek etc.

Do you think the Carthaginians with Hannibal Barca were black?

“I don’t know if you’re being disingenuous or dull.”
Cool, but here’s the thing: the Romans didn’t care about your modern racial categories. They talked about Numidians, Moors, Aethiopes, etc. And yes, we have evidence of Aethiopian (sub-Saharan) soldiers in the Roman army some even posted as far as Britain. So the ‘zero Africans’ claim is already toast.

As for Hannibal: his army wasn’t some Punic-only club. It was a mash-up of Africans, Berbers, Iberians, Gauls, and even Nubians. Carthage hired troops from all over, including south of Egypt. That’s why Rome panicked dude basically showed up with the ancient world’s version of a world tour lineup and nearly flattened them.

So no, not all Carthaginians were “black,” but some definitely were. And pretending that Africa = only Berbers/Greeks/Phoenicians until modern times is just rewriting history.
