EA totally lost the plot. What a Battlefield game suppose to be, here's a recipe and a breakdown.

A Beautiful Mess of Identical Units and a Horrible UI

This thread is a mess. Everyone is acting so hostile. That being said, I will add my own opinion. Before I address the points, I will just say this. TW 3K isn't my favorite TW game. But I do see it as one of the better TW games. I have around 30 hours on this game, but I do want to return to it, as I did like it.

Now, to your points. UI is a nightmare, at the beginning. Once you get used to it, it isn't as bad. But it definitively could be better made. They did have it figured out in previous tittles so it is frustrating that they fumbled it here. I would hazard to guess that the reason they did the UI so poorly is that they added a lot more "content" then in previous tittles so they wanted to rework the UI and it didn't end well. But that is just my guess. But I definitively wouldn't hold UI as the main point of criticism. Is it a valid point? Yes. Is it something that makes the game less enjoyable? Yes. Is it something the game can/should be criticized for? Yes. But is it something that makes the game unplayable or straight up bad? No, I don't think so.

To find who is your ally and enemy isn't as hard as you make it sound. You just need to go into diplomacy and sort out the factions. If you just want to see it on the map (from which side you will most likely be attacked) you just pick to show who is at war with you or how diplomatically friendly they are. Could it be made better by a simple fix? Yes. Give coloured outlines to provinces when you pick out who you are at war or diplomatic opinion so you wouldn't have to hover over every province to see who it belongs to. But that is definitively the smallest issue of the game, and something you can get used to pretty quickly.

Units, terrain and generals. With generals I am just going to say that they are definitively not forgettable, and that is a subjective opinion. You are entitled to it, but my opinion is that they are very memorable. That is all I will say to generals, as there are issues I have with them but THAT is not one of them. In fact that is one of the things I would praise this game for. Definitively more memorable than in basically any other TW game out there. As to terrain, that is not an issue that plagues just this game. I would say terrain not being useful is every TW game from Rome 2 up. I played all of them (except rome remastered and pharaoh as I didn't get to them yet). It's not something you can completely disregard (talking about terrain here), but compared to older titles I would say it's... less impactful. When it comes to units looking identical. Once again a valid point. If you are a new player the amount of units and their "look a like" can make it a nightmare to figure out a good army composition. I am a firm believer that sometimes less is more. But at the same time when it comes to their looks, I can understand they look alike as they are from the same country wearing mostly same armour flying different colours, if you get what I mean. But hey, that was the case with Shogun 2. You also had multiple different samurai, ashigaru and monk units, but they were easy to distinguish. So I would say here, they sacrificed uniqueness for amount. So here it depends if you are the type of person that always yaps "content, content, content" regardless if it makes sense or not. Or you want less but more unique units.

So my conclusion. Your points are valid and true, but I would say you are disregarding other aspects of the game. Both positive and negative. To be fair the thing that bothers me more than all you said are two things: Incredibly long battles (meaninglessly long) and the fact that even in records if you give your general an elephant he will turn into the idiotic single entity unit and does not retain his bodyguard. Which I hate, as I hate from the bottom of my heart single entity, hero, monster and beast units. And as to disregarding good things about the game: You have the best diplomacy in ANY TW game. Pretty unique and fun twist to settlements. Better family tree and overall faction management. No stupid naval battles. etc. As there are both more negatives and positives but we would be here all day and some of them are plaguing more than just this particular TW game.

So even with that in mind, I would still say it's better than most TW games. In fact I like Three kingdoms more than Rome or Medieval 2 just because there is a good camera. And I don't have to fight the stupid game instead of playing it. But it's definitively not the best TW game. But I would say given all the new tittles CA has published, this one is the best, yes I believe TW 3K is better than Warhammer 3. I said it. So it is deserving of praise it gets. But once again, I will state that it's not the best TW game. That is my opinion.
