Why would an 8 gauge shotgun have medium pen? The only shotgun we have that gets medium pen is the halt firing flechette. The 8 gauge is still buckshot, not exactly great for anti armour.

The .50 is kind of like, not every .50 is made equal. Pistol .50 is just very heavy and slow, it's not real .50 like the HMG/AMR. Verdict and senator both fire it. Though disregarding realim, the pistol really should have gotten medium pen entirely to headshot overseers. I mean come on it was THE headshot gun in halo, with a 4x scope...

Like Halo weapons tend to fire a bit oversized stuff, like the AR firing 7.62 nato. That's not really an assault rifle and would be called a battle rifle by our standards, but in the game itself it's a peashooter that cannot even headshot. The SMG fires PDW ammunition but actually at far slower muzzle velocity defeating the point.
Halo is not really the most realistic.

Anyway. Shotgun light pen, SMG light pen (probably, i could see an argument for medium), AR light, magnum medium.
