The frantic firefights on tiny maps is just COD in Battlefield clothes. It's NOT what made Battlefield so great. Battlefield has always been a more strategic war game. It's NO LONGER has that DNA. I LOVED the giant maps in the old games. It really made things feel a lot more thoughtful and ultimately rewarding.

"but...but........but......the maps in Battlefield are just too big!" Hence why they use to have stuff all over the map to help you get around. Motorcycles, jet skis, rafts, jeeps.

If Battlefield stops being a primarily vehicle based game, it is no longer Battlefield.

The older games put focus on said strategic war, with squad-based structure and tactics (and a commander mode that actually made sense), coupled with slow gameplay and gunplay that leans more to realism. It wasn't that deep, but it did provide a fundamental core to what made BF stand out from CoD and other games.

Other companies tried to copy-paste the BF formula at the time--some had more success than others--like Battlefront and Terminator 3: War of the Machines. Even Squad is a direct decedent of BF2 since it's the modernized iteration of Project Reality.

Actually it's a big skill issue on the colonial side, that's the only bias for wardens, and the devs can't do anything!! Might want to get better or smth

Colonials no longer do what made them special. Wardens have the same 'speciality' that made the Colonials and Wardens stand apart from each other.

Colonials general theme: Heavy infantry focus. Has faster fire rates, but lower range, could pump out cheap base infantry and lesser quality tanks, relying more on lighter tanks.
Wardens: Focused more on armor, expensive, but higher quality. Their infantry stats had lower fire rate, but longer range.

Wardens then proceeded to get scout tankss, Destroyer tanks, Cruiser tanks, overtakes the Battle tank field easily. In terms of armor, they not only have a monopoly on three tank types, but also have more tank types then the Colonials also have.
Okay, okay, armor was their thing, infantry based things are what Colonials are good a-
Wardens have more rifle types then Colonials....[Blakerow 871] does what the Colonial [Fuscina pi.I] does but better.... and at the same production cost. Wardens now have faster fire rate WITH further range...... Colonials get nothing.... Oh, they also have more pistols, oh, more assault rifles too.......... with better stats across the board....

What are the Colonials left with? Wardens now do what made the Colonials special, but better, while the Colonials get nothing in return.
There's Asymmetry, sure, but asymmetry can still hold balance. The game is so fundamentally unbalanced atm.
