General Guide: Fixing CPU, GPU, or FPS Issues in Game
Agora
HNIC
If you're experiencing stuttering, low FPS, crashes, or overheating while playing Deadzone Rogue (or any other game), this guide will help you troubleshoot and optimize your system.

1. Keep Everything Updated
Outdated software can cause performance issues and instability.
• Update your BIOS/UEFI from your motherboard manufacturer’s website.
• Install the latest chipset drivers from AMD or Intel.
• Update your graphics drivers using NVIDIA GeForce Experience, AMD Adrenalin, or Intel Arc Control.
• Make sure Windows is fully updated via Settings > Windows Update.
• Ensure your game is fully patched through your launcher (Steam, EA App, etc.).

2. Clean Install of GPU Drivers
A fresh install can resolve lingering driver conflicts.
• Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to remove old GPU drivers.
• Reinstall the latest drivers from the official NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel website.

3. Optimize In-Game Settings
Adjust settings to balance visuals and performance.
• Lower demanding options like shadows, textures, and anti-aliasing.
• Disable V-Sync if it causes input lag or stuttering.
• Enable upscaling technologies:
• DLSS (NVIDIA)
• FSR (AMD)
• XeSS (Intel)
• Try switching between fullscreen, windowed, and borderless windowed modes — some setups perform better in one than the others.
• Disable in-game overlays and telemetry features if they cause instability.
• Experiment with launch options like or to force a specific DirectX version.

4. Monitor Temperatures and Usage
Overheating or throttling can cause major issues.
• Use tools like HWMonitor, MSI Afterburner, or HWiNFO to check CPU and GPU temperatures and usage.
• Clean dust from fans and heatsinks.
• Ensure proper airflow inside your case.
• Reapply thermal paste if necessary (advanced users only).
• Use a performance overlay (like Xbox Game Bar or MSI Afterburner) to monitor FPS and system load in real time.

5. Close Background Apps
Free up system resources for gaming.
• Open Task Manager and end high-resource tasks.
• Disable unnecessary startup programs via Task Manager > Startup tab.
• Enable Game Mode in Windows for automatic optimization.
• Disable hardware acceleration in apps like Discord, Chrome, or Spotify to reduce GPU load.

6. Adjust Power Settings and BIOS Options
Make sure your system isn’t limiting performance.
• Set Windows to High Performance mode (Settings > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings).
• In BIOS:
• Enable XMP/DOCP to run RAM at its rated speed.
• Disable CPU power-saving features like C-States (optional).
• Enable Resizable BAR if supported by your GPU and motherboard.

7. Check for Bottlenecks
Identify mismatched hardware that may be holding back performance.
• Use tools like UserBenchmark, PassMark, or CPU-Z/GPU-Z to analyze your system.
• Look for signs of one component limiting the other (e.g., high-end GPU with a low-end CPU).
• Make sure you have at least 16GB of RAM for modern games — more may help with multitasking and smoother gameplay.

8. Verify Game Files and Storage Health
Corrupted files or slow drives can cause crashes and stuttering.
• On Steam: Right-click the game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity.
• On EA App: Click the game > Manage > Repair.
• Install the game on an SSD for faster load times and smoother performance.
• Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check drive health.
• Free up disk space — low storage can affect performance.

9. Scan for Malware
Malware can hijack system resources and cause instability.
• Run a full scan with Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus.
• Use Malwarebytes for deeper scans and rootkit detection.

10. Reinstall the Game or OS (Last Resort)
If nothing else works:
• Reinstall the game to fix corrupted or missing files.
• Consider a clean install of Windows if system-wide issues persist.

I like this game!

More like a waste of your time (unless you get off on reading hate) But I guess if you don't really have much to do in your life, then that makes more sense.

Funny that you're hiding your game list. I wanted to know how much time you put into this "beautiful yet flawed" game, especially since you like the bad story it has.

Edit: To reply to your main post

"I have played MindsEye for a bit more than four hours now, and I don't get why so many people seem to hate it...? I love driving through a city like a lunatic, there's lots of pew-pew and dakka, and the music is great!"

So, just because you love driving through a city like a lunatic (which you can do in a lot of other games, which also have pew-pews etc) that makes the game good? is that the only thing it offers? nothing original or unique there.

Also, people told you what's wrong with the game and yet you still continue to ignore the facts because "you" like this flawed/not so great game.

Definitely seems/sounds like someone who works for the Dev/Team or so. Anyways, I've said all I needed to. Bye and Fair Winds!
I believe it is up to me to decide whether something is a waste of my time or not, but thank you for your concern! :-D My game list is visible to my friends only, but for job reasons, I have over 750 games on Steam alone. It does not matter if you believe me. And about not having much to do with my life: As you know from this thread, I am a professor for Game Design and Development, and as such, I wish that your statement of me not having anything to do was true ;-). Try grading 50 papers on Game Analysis, and having to play all of the games if you have not already... Yes, I see the criticisms, but critique - in my estimation - includes a calm analysis of something, and not what I read here. I do not ignore statements, I choose to not engage with some of what is said here. Judging the work of others is extremely difficult and a lot of hard work, if you want to be fair. Or do you see it differently?

Claiming to be a professor doesn’t hide that your thinking is shallow, defensive, and desperate for authority—real academics argue with evidence, not excuses. I have a PhD and I never flaunt it, unlike you.
